Testing Carry On Luggage at the Airport for the Most Popular Airlines
Testing Carry On Luggage at the Airport for the Most Popular Airlines
I tested 8 different carry-on bags in different airline sizers to see which ones actually fit vs. what they’re like in the overhead bin. We tried Monos, Travelpro, Level8, Tomtoc, mixi, and Dakine bags.
We test the best carry on luggage for United Airlines, Air Canada, Westjet and more!

In Egypt there are carry ons that are 7$ and very good ones at 10$ I am amazed at the prices you are saying
The most efficient option from the perspective of outside volume is a travel pack. Suitcases take up inefficient space with a handle and wheels that does not contribute to interior space.
The funny thing about my travel pack is that gate agents don't even look at it. They are laser focused on my wife's wheeled luggage. Its comical.
I love your videos, they are so helpful! – I read on reddit that some AC flights are now using those machines to weigh and laser the size, and the tolerance is much less than it is in those metal sizers – I would be curious what passes in those machines
Can you do Sunwing?
Thank you so much for this informative video. I just bought the Maxlite 5 22" and it's great to know it'll fit nicely.
I'm actually looking at the Level 8 Gibraltar and will be taking an Air Canada flight. The dimensions for the Gibraltar are all around larger than the required dimensions on Air Canada's website. Is there a bit of give in the luggage sizer? Loved your video!
I love joy Rick Steves’ Backdoor backpack carryon. It fits perfectly on tight carryon airlines (made to fit smaller European airlines) and it’s only $79 USD. It ships anywhere. My carryon spinner broke when I flew to Portugal (2016] and I decided no wheels are better on the cobbled streets that are everywhere in the country, and I have used this bag ever since. It’s extremely lightweight and has traveled many, many miles/kilometres over the past 7 years.
Shoot! I have just started watching your channel, Aly, and in about the second video you featured the MIXI 20" bag, which I understood would fit in the overhead bin. As I'm traveling to London soon, I bought the bag immediately on Amazon, even in the same color, green. Now I come to find that the wheels don't fit in the thing, so now I'm worried I'll get in trouble. How much would I have to pay for this? If it's $20.00, that's ok, but if I have to pay $100.00, I'll be upset. Well, may be I'll just google this for a quick answer.
Thank you
is this in Vancouver Airport?
I don't fly often. I have a suitcase that meets dimensions except for the handle is about half an inch too high. Any thoughts if they will make me check it?
What happens if it is bigger? Is anyone from the company really checking so? U have to pay extra? does the bag stays w u or it goes to the bodega?
Did you pay for these bags out of your own pocket?? How many bags do you have now?
Greetings from Vegas ❤️ 1:05
anyone try a beis carry on with alaska airlines?
Thank you so much. Very helpul.
Funny enough when AirTransat asked me to place my TRAVELPRO Carry-on in their bag sizer box just before embarking, the agent asked me to check the bag at no charge. I thought I was within limits. I suspect that bag sizer was a bit smaller at the departure gate than the one located at the main check-in.😮
Usually domestic airlines don’t check carry on size
Hi, if it doesn’t fit in the sizer does that mean we have to check it in? Or do we just have to pay extra?
korea air measure carry on + personal bag limit is 10kg 😂 laptop and powercord + empty carry on luggage already weignt 7kg😂 if you dont wanna worry just pay for overweight
Great video. I’ll be getting the Level8 Roadrunner Pro. Thank you! ❤
Aly thanks for the video. Can you confirm the travel pro you tried in this vid is 21”? I just bought one.
Never knew about the Dakine bag. The price seems affordable, it's not as heavy and it looks pretty durable, plus the size is right. I think I found my bag, Thanks!
Wow, this is actually very useful. Thanks!
have you tested if the osprey meridian 22 suitcase could fit in the carry-on bag?
Thank you.
Great video! I'm trying to decide between the Dakine carry-on roller (42L) and the Travelpro Maxlite softside. While I care about durability, I care more about maximizing space since I'll be packing for 4 months at a time (digital nomad life with washer access!). I welcome any opinions. 🙂
Helpful
This explains why I had to gate check my bag my last flight even though I triple checked the measurements before I went to the airport…
For international travel, is it standard for 9" x 14" x 22" bag size? thanks-
Hi there! I really appreciate your videos that actually test the bags in airport sizers! After watching your videos I’ve decided to get the TravelPro Maxlite 5. However, is the version being tested there the Compact version or the regular version? The dimensions shown are of the Compact, but the name provided is the regular version. I would greatly appreciate some clarification.
Thank you for your videos!
From what I see happening, pretty soon the only carryon bag you will be able to take will be a briefcase no more than 4 inches thick, or worse yet, only your wallet, which will be thinner than days gone by because you will be forking out so much to fly with more than just the clothes you have on.
I didn't see Aegean Air on the list? Or did I miss it?
