Why did Russia vote against a ceasefire in Sudan? Focus on Africa


Russia vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution which called for a ceasefire in Sudan. It was proposed by the UK and Sierra Leone, calling on both sides to immediately halt hostilities and start talks aimed at agreeing a national ceasefire. Why did Russia veto it?

  1. All the Sudanese eyes are on the UNSC, for an organise approach to end war. Russia had made a grievous mistake to veto the resolution. Peace initiative must begin with ceasefire, after a settlement could possibly. What is urgent is to save humanity, from this unprecedented humanitarian catastrophes.
