Nigeria fuel crisis: State-run oil company out of money for fuel imports

Nigeria’s state-run oil company says it is under financial strain and no longer able to import fuel into the country. People are queueing up at petrol stations across major cities that are selling fuel at a cheaper price.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from the capital, Abuja.

Hopefully Nigeria invest in safe pedal bike paths and mass public transit. It would help Nigerians citizens who need cheaper transportation.

@macanthony1982

Imagine a country where petrol is produced naturally but at the same time imports the same fuel…. Is this the renewed hope that Mr. Incompetent (Tinubu) was referring too??? 😂😂

@KhanRizwan-rm2jd

Africa have everything but corruption make poor

@kulio212

Dangote is part and parcel of the problem, he is a monopoly that has connection with alot of Nigeria mafia politicians. All his competitors has been driven out of the market because of lack of corrupt politician's favourism. sugar, cement and salt sector has been dominated by dangote for decades through the help of his corrupt politicians friends. Nigeria has 4 crude oil refineries which can be refurbished quickly but they choose to enslave their own people by shutting down those refineries. Dangote just declared he will sell his petroleum products at a higher price profit over wisdom.

@toborgabriel2789

Tinubu just acting as if there’s nothing happening in the country is really alarming

@gusmotorsports

You have one of the worlds largest oil reserve in the world and largest refinery in Africa yet you have no fuel. This is what poor leadership does to a country.

@calvoh9715

@mikelsibs492

What an embarrassing situation. They have crude oil yet run out of oil. Their failure to give Dangote the licence ans contract to process fuel for the country

Dangote should run the country.

@Zakesnkosi

But you busy arguing with South Africans 😢 mind your own business

@TabsT-vy5jy

Why do they need to import when dangote refinery is in Nigeria?
