Tech Worker Records Her “Termination” and Goes Viral. Here's Where It Went Wrong.

A Cloudflare employee recorded her termination, and it was cringy. Here’s how the HR team got this one wrong, and it is yet again another example of employers not conducting layoffs in the correct manner.

The reality of the situation is the only people who really care about you are your significant other, your family, a couple of friends, and your dog. Most other people aren't going to bat an eyelid if something bad happens to you. Have your finances squared away and work towards financial independence.

Don't sign anything. Listen, read through the document, and tell them you will get back to them.

She is in the bargaining stage of grief. It is hard.

I worked at a large retail store, we had a morning meeting. The subject of the meeting was about some out of the blue minor subject. The assistant manager started a clip board to sign which everyone thought was a log of who was at the meeting. Someone took the paper out of the clip board and looked at the very top of the paper. Typed at the top of the paper was a sentence that said ‘ I am aware that I can be fired for any reason or for no reason whatsoever’. Our state is a at will hire state so the the statement was true but it was handled so sneaky. After the discovery was made no one else would sign and most who had it signed marked their name out.

@karenhearn1391

Being terminated for cause, makes it harder to file for unemployment

@pennyream1401

Man you talk way too much. Let the video roll!

@lutherjones503

This seems to be a consultant or extended type role. These roles don’t have longevity if no ROI is realized. She clearly said she did not close any deals. She could not provide metrics (bad sign ) they could not either. Seems they hired her team prior to a expected contract that did not come though. I seen this before and companies do it all the time. Doesn’t make it right but joining a team that has not been in operation for a long time is risky and this is the risk I have worked on teams like this for 17 years you lose the contract everybody loses their job and performance is the reason

@PolishX

I'll do you one better, your bosses and coworkers (in addition to HR) are not your friend. Don't be rude to them but learn what real separation of work/life means. Don't friend anyone you work with on social media. It's a job you are trading your life and time for money

@johncormier6539

These 2 HR are absolutely pathetic. They may be googling buzz terms that are simply disgusting. Every sentence ends with a question mark… 2 pretend corporate douch*bags that will always be low level employees no matter where they land in life

@johncormier6539

HR people are generally $cumbags… the answers are so fake and disingenuous.

@johncormier6539

Employment lawyers will have a field day with this one!!!! I really hope she has this reviewed before signing any docs

@noosphericaltarzan

I think more of these videos need to get out. If they lie like this in this context, they absolutely lie on their financials. Investors should not trust them either. That's why they freak out about these videos.

@karenschuler180

I'm starting to think HR is the deception of all! I could not even be someone doing that!

@karenschuler180

I lot of "fill In BS"

@karenschuler180

Looks like he's stuttering, he should be let go!

@karenschuler180

Please let her talk

@jciutube724

The HR and Director don’t have enough information about her department. A manager from that department should have been leading the charge.

@battube44tqs

I get her frustration but what is she trying to accomplish here?
Get HR to change their minds and promote her? Sue them?

@robertfreestone414

They're firing her from a script.
Their fix?
Rewrite their termination script.
.

@Mary-hs3gu

Sorry so late to this, but I think they’re basically not wanting to pay unemployment.

@latebloomer7191

That HR lady sounds like AI

@latebloomer7191

They also do this to try to get off the hook for unemployment compensation. She can contest it with the employment commission. I've had to do it twice in my career and I won both times – once with legal representation, once on my own.

@latebloomer7191

It's very careless of a company to put all those resources into hiring and training all these recruits, just to fiee them literally weeks later. It's a business miscalculation. Lazy, irresponsible to disrupt all those lives. People freaking relocate, take leases, spend a fortune to start a new job.

@latebloomer7191

Id love to know what the percentage of women is to men.

@JannieJannie-mm2kr

Hr is like hoa no one wants em because they fall short

@ladydi2493

Let’s hear the video…stop talking thru the entire video

@michellebishop8743

Brittany is a smart, savvy gal that knows what's what and when she's being fed a pile of crap. They lied about her performance abilities which should not be allowed to stand for the perusal of future employers. From what this video presents she would be a great addition to any job

@TheAnonymous1one

Its hilarious they go to fire her but shes a better employee then they could dream of being. She really smoked them and showed she actually is sharp and would be an asset to the business.

@SuperJaffro

She is filming a TikTok video while she works. Not sure how consent laws work in her state, but in my state it’s 2 party consent to audio record

@SugLV75

Wow… I love she held them accountable. She is obviously knows how to handle her business! They really should know why someone is being let go! This is ridiculous!!! They are acting like computers reading a script….

@flukeoutdrsy650

It is irritating that you keep interrupting the video. I am out.

@Afusomax

Let go for performance is code for "We will fight a UI claim "

@flatulent954

Most HR personnel carry a book of cliches that they refer to and practice constantly. A generally crap profession that attracts people who lack people skills
