At least Multichoice got something right. I just wish they'd do the same for DSTV.

Why do they always show the worst views in Africa? There are some amazing views in Africa, beautiful architecture too, but none is shown on the MSM

They have blocked people from diaspora watching certain shows. Which does not make sense. You are paying. Silly really

I will not look at the subscriber numbers because it is included with some DStv package as standard. Rather check how many logins or views it generates

@rogersubramani5554

Utter bull. Showmax is free to dstv subscribers. They only subscribe for the sport

Why is anyone surprised that a platform that is preexisting and has a customer base can outperform Netflix?

@lfc13

This feature doesn't tell the viewers how many sudscribe to both,was there a survey done,in SA households have Dstv and Netflix together with other streaming services, depending on ones preference, some also subscribe and unsubscribe depending on what is showing for the month or a certain period.presently the EPL is on ,that is why the showmax subscription base has increased

@suspiciousafternoon

it's simple Showmax doesn't do that woke nonsense Netflix constantly pushes with repeated increases in subscription prices

@raymondshiburi9151

Who owns Showmax?

@phoenixaidensystems

Lies 😂😂😂 I am in South Africa I don't even watch Showmax. No1 in my circle watches it

@Prime-casts

This means nothing as long as the end of the day these things end up being owned by the same people, theres a group in this world that acquires everything and makes it its own. I'll only be proud when I see the people owning the companies that produce what they consume. ITS NOT A WIN FOR AFRICA.

But to be clear, Showmax is popular in Anglophone Africa as its programming is mostly in English. So it is not surprising that it is popular in the likes of South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and the likes. In Francophone Africa, it is still Canal+

This is GREAT! How can we stream Showmax in the UK?

@Coachbill254

I support Showmax from Kenya. Atleast they don't force the unnatural agenda in their content. They can reduce on the women drinking content though.
Netflix has been forcing the six coloured agenda in it's contents, so un-African

@dorcaselohorodidi8602

But is it owned by an African?

The world's fourth-largest streaming service is Tencent Video, with over 120 million subscribers.

@duwaynem.467

Hooray Showmax BUT DSTV still sucks!!

@lanla6838z

Those are DStv subscribers.
DStv account is DStv, GOtv, DStv Stream and Showmax.

All these services say show up as Showmax on the Metadata.

No way Showmax is more popular than Netflix, at least not in South Africa.
In the rest of Africa Showmax may have a head start where Netflix is not available.
