@MarkEllisReviews

Do you think the M4 Mac mini could be Apple's best-ever Mac?

@brianb.7435

Looks like a great device. Although if your investing so much in upgrades, 🤔 then maybe its not the correct base. The one concern I have is heat dissipation may be a concern in that smaller format. Hopefully not

@AndrewYouTubehandle

Nice review.
Some "reviewers" have gone wild about the on off button on the bottom, not even asking why or saying if it's actually an issue. I mostly use sleep mode akd or looks simple to reach.
I love having the 3.5mm on the front. Why some manufacturs put it on the back I don't know.
I'm getting an m4 mini. I've always been temped by a mini but usually gone for a cheaper mini Windows computer and have come to regret it with driver and other issues.

@njdenney69

Big question to everyone . . . . . . would switching from a standard M1 Mac Studio to this be an 'upgrade'? I'm not sure it would 🤔

@eyeque7

Its awesome, but i need all the ports the previous version had! now i have to get some bs so i can attach everything and that is deterring me from upgrading.

@e7234

i turn off my mac mini every single time i don't intend to use it for more than 1h

@michaelburk8425

Good analysis and feedback. It looks like you just demoed my next Mac.

@jcc6664

Thank you. yes I shall be getting the new M4 with 1tb storage. I am running my 2014 27" iMac WITH two SSD units with USB A connections so a little unsure how I am going to work round this.

@IamKenRoss

I preordered mine almost instantly, and I don't normally do that with new releases… Thanks for the video.

@claudiabetia5515

I am updating from the iMac 5K 27” 2017 to the Mac mini M4 24 unified memory and 1TB storage. I hope I can use my iMac as additional storage and display for the time being due to being on a budget and hope to find more info on how to set this up. I am a hobby photographer and was disappointed that the iMac only comes as a 24”.

@robertp457

I can buy a professional 2TB NVME SSD for $170 and Apple charges $200 for an additional 256GB of storage. It's criminal.

The power button is a symptom of Apple not caring about its customers. Putting it by the power cord or I don't know use the Apple logo as a power button and touch ID would have been nice, but Apple didn't ask you or me what we would like.

I live in a place where power is very expensive and I won't just leave all my electronics on all the time, it's so wasteful.

@emilsecker7881

You say you want for 10 gigabit Ethernet, but your spec shows gigabit Ethernet? 8:28

@DerekDavis213

The M4 Mini that Mark ordered costs about 3600 USD. That is bonkers, when you can buy a Windows PC for half the price that is much much more capable for gaming, 3D modeling, and pretty much everything .

If ram or ssd fails on the M4 Mini, the computer becomes a useless door stop. Repairs or upgrades are not possible, on a 3600 dollar computer .

@Morgan-g9e

I've seen a few vids where the base M2 mac mini seemed more than capable for my light to medium music production needs. Having pulled the trigger on the M4 mac mini base model today, I'm hoping I'll fare well with it. Q: the mac studio monitor costs so much more than the machine itself, any suggestions for budget to midrange offerings? Your content and delivery is SOoo good, ty

@Firebrand55

Shrewd Apple!!…virtually give the M4 Mini away; £600…super!!…can't wait to buy!…..then… small print a house-selling wedge if you want extra storage. You gotta applaud that marketing, even if the house sale doesn't go through!
Excellent How To Mark……with really good presentation skills.

@pauljennings1466

I'm on a 2016 Macbook Pro 16 and been waiting to grab a new mac for the home. M4 mini with 24gb order just placed, it's an absolute bargain. Throw on an external 2TB drive for 100 quid and I'm set for another decade (maybe)

@MrJnolan73

I have an M1 Pro MacBook Pro and I do occasional 4k video editing. I was thinking of upgrading to the new Mac Mini, but would ask if I need to spec the M4-pro chip or will the standard M4 be enough for me. I should also point out that I also like to future-proof my Mac purchases and therefore tend to spec up on what I actually need. Thoughts?

So I am seriously considering upgrading my beast of a Windows setup to the Mac mini M4 pro. I need single core performance for Adobe InDesign and running scripts, and the support for 3 external monitors and the Geekbench 6 single core being faster than intel’s latest 285 chip, is making rethink the OS. Going to be a nightmare since I would have to port thousands of scripts, but it might be worth the move.

@robertshoop8181

I ordered two! Got one for lugging around / living room setup and a second one with M4 Pro and 48GB RAM. I have a weird feeling that the 48GB RAM versions are going to have higher memory bandwidth than the systems equipped with 64GB RAM. It would be awesome to do possibly do some performance comparisions for everyone with you @mark.

@gheorghetufeanu8807

He did not say much ….What about comparison between those with already M2 pro Mac mini ? I don’t see any sound improvement in M4…more power ok but what that means in terms of display ? Do I get a better option in resolution ? I connect my Mac mini pro M2 to a 8K, 85 inch tv and I get 4k and 8K but no more than 60 hertz …Is M4 better in that respect ? NO …ACCORDING TO APPLE

@rahrah8969

Just add a hub if you want USB A ports. Also you didn't discuss the Thunderbolt 5 ports on the M4 Pro.

@rickgreen2760

I went from a well specked Cheese Greater to an M1 Man it's so good and very fast I used Logic Pro a lot and it is still amazing🙃 so I don't see the need to upgrade But I just Might for the hell of it🤣🤔

@whafrog

I will be upgrading, even though I'm 99% happy with my M1 mac mini, it has this weird bluetooth issue with the keyboard that I have never been able to resolve short of a total restart. It's so irritating to want to jump on it for a quick note or whatever, and then you have to restart the whole thing because you've just typed a whole line of "m"s. I heard the M2 mini had fixed this, but that's not a big enough power differential to go for it. Hopefully the M4 doesn't have this problem either … 🤞😳

I am currently using a 2014 Mac Mini for WFH purposes, (and an M1 Macbook Air for all my personal stuff), and I think I'm finally ready to upgrade! My only problem is, do I get this new Mac Mini, or do I get the new iMac? Tough choices! Thank you for the recent videos! As a non-techy person, I find them so helpful.

@IntrovertMaxxing

Love your setup. Great video, thanks

@Ammardaily_

i watch a lot of reviews about products to see if i need them or not and after wasting hours i still think the same but this review was clear no BS no overexagrating.just simple pro and cons and some problems.thanks mark for this and new channel added to the list.And keep. growing.

@JosefHelmut

The big thing to know is that it still has wifi 6

@willharrah9381

I really want gold or a red color to

@willharrah9381

I want to get one so bad 🎉

@MrHoudinidog

Ordered for £499 SB now I know why my daughter is useful 😂 can’t wait will pair to my 77 oled and probably use it as a upgraded ATV 4k 😉

@PrestoMoto02

I’m guessing it can do 4k 120hz through the thunderbolt ports?

@AnthonyNeedsTech

think it’ll be a great computer for the kids and myself. i don’t do anything other than check emails and watch youtube. great little machine.

@garyclark3805

thanks as i must be in group III – need to replace my imac 2015

@bampidraws

Do I need a Mac display or will this be compatible with a normal pc monitor

@Qahtanite

I don’t even need a new computer but this new Mac mini is just soooo tempting.

@OrangeismyNewGreen

I’m sticking with my M1 Max Mac Studio but I do like the size of the new Mini 👍🏻

@ben.harnwell

This year I am biting the bullet and getting the MacBook Pro M4 Pro – just debating on base or upgrade to the 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU…

@pauljones3449

I’m looking for a powerful and quiet machine to play a few games that I don’t play on console. For example Civ 6 and the upcoming Civ 7.
Building a powerful and most importantly, quiet machine is costly.
With the M4 Pro Mini I can have everything I need ( and I have an iPhone and M2 Air to keep the ecosystem ) for cheaper and ‘cleaner’ than a PC

@nikhiljudge1163

im buying an M4 mac mini base model 1) so i can learn and transition to mac 2) getting rid of my dads PC and potentially just giving him this. All he does is browse the internet, emails, youtube and I cant think of a better, smaller, more powerful, longer supported device that will also retain its value

@joebangels1

I’ve just preordered, never had a Mac. Let’s see.

@protoman2260

I have an original M1 Mac mini and I’m planning on trading it in for the M4 … sometime next year.

@michaelmanus7765

I had an M1 Mini 16/512, and it was, at the time, a really impressive Mini and computer. However, due to software limitations, it did not meet my needs for photo/art work with other apps open. I ended up with the M1 Studio Max with more RAM, and I am using it now. I like both the old M1 Mini and the Studio footprint. I'll be curious to see how these new M4 minis perform under stress and how cool do they remain without hearing a fan going. The M4 pro Mini appears to be quite impressive in performance so lets see some of the real hands reviews as they start to show up in short order. As for the headphone – don't care. When I had to share the port in the past, I used a very short extender so that it stayed in the port and whatever was attached was plugged and unplugged from the extender cable. Problem solved. These days, I don't bother with that jack port, I use USB to external processing for audio for better sound. It is a shame Apple skimps on audio.
