Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics: Chinese loans funding infrastructure for games

With less than 1,000 days until the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics, 1,400 athletes, aged 15 to 18, are preparing for the first Olympic event to be held in Africa. We are tired of this anti-China rhetoric. China and its loans are building infrastructure that Africans like me are using. You guys never talk about the debt to the Paris club and western nation which comprises 80% of Africa's debt and comes with more than double the interest rates charged by China. We are tired of this narrow and propagandists narrative.

They like Chinese money more than Korean money/American money/European money/Japanese money. Do u know why?

They don't know that China is dominating their economy. Chinese investment in Africa can't give economic benefits to African economy. The companies are Chinese. The workers are Chinese. The money are Chinese. The income goes to China. Everything is built by China, from China, goes to China.

Only thing Africa gets is debts. All the money goes back to China. And China gets all the benefits. If Africa don't give it back to China, they have to sell it to China. And China gets control over the facilities.

Basically Africa is losing their money. And China is getting all the money. Saving the Chinese companies from bankruptcy. Hiring the Chinese workers. Africa is just a market. Very innocent and pure market that can give benefits to China.

WE have a swimming pool. It's in Point E. Votre reportage est complètement faux. Nous avons une piscine olympique depuis au moins une vingtaine d'années. Je croyais que seuls les médias occidentaux prenaient des libertés avec la vérité, mais là vous avez fait du rattrapage. Tout simplement dégoûtant.

So even Al Jazeera is getting in bed with western media to blame China for the failures of the host nations to look after their own finances? Oh…one more thing, according to Al Jazeera, Chinese economy is running ot of steam at a snail pace at 5.1% growth rate ! Good reporting Al Jazeera, or are you simply running out of your own materials, and is now copying western media to fill the void?

Chinese loan showing 10% of total African losn. Most of African loans are coming from Western countries. They are just popularizing debt trap because they don't want Chinese presence in Africa. But look the difference between China's loan and Western countries.

What’s wrong with Aljazeera now 😢? Wow too many wrong informations in 2 minutes. What big loans from China? Plus Senegal has swimming facilities such as Piscine Olympic Dakar.

@bekindtoeveryone4216

Don't host the Olympics, they bring very little to no benefit at a very high cost.
Use the money for making the country self-sufficient, invested in food production as well as factories.
Olympics for these wealthy European countries who have stolen enough from the world to fund their lustful desires.

Al Jazeera that stadium in Dakar you showed, was it built from Chinese loans?!
Why are you pushing in this video that Senegal needs China to build?
I live in Senegal and I don’t feel any Chinese influence in the process of our country.

Building a couple of pools is not a problem for china.

@igweogba6774

With interest rates of 1-2 percent, Chinese loans are not the problem. Western loans have much higher interest rates at 17 percent.
