  1. Our forbearers used this "alang na buga" or kombo to soften vegetable leaves and make them edible when cooked. This, till today is used when preparing "ngete" (cowpea leaves) with "köimöt" (peanut butter) in Juba and whole of Central Equatoria and Junub.

  2. Mulla Kombo= alang na buga (in Bari language transliterated as "poured salt" from root word *'buk meaning "pour" derived from filtrate of burnt vegetable leaves, popularly known as sodium bicarbonate/soda ash) whereas "alang na gila" (white man´s salt or crystal salt).
