  1. I agree with the mother. Inviting her and her child to a ceremony just to watch others receive awards was insensitive. They should have communicated this beforehand to avoid wasting their time and causing embarrassment. If they don't consider her and her son's feelings, why should she care about theirs?

  2. I'm shaking my head because in today's society, everybody thinks they get a participation award. She needs to stop it and get on her son to do better in school. Furthermore, you don't have to act a fool because your child didn't get an award. There is a time and a place for all that by scheduling a meeting with the teacher to discuss the situation.

  3. On Point Demetria! She could have talked privately with the Principal. These emotional tirades can be signs of mental illness as well. We have to do as you say better.

  4. This is the problem with the younger generation. In the past you received awards based on true accomplishments, nowadays EVERYBODY gets an award and it takes away the sense of true achievement. In the past , if you didn't get an award you were more willing to seek out what was needed to acquire an award and then strive for that goal. The idea of giving every kid an award, so they don't feel left out is krazy, especially when the teacher is making up achievements, such as best lunch table cleaner. Kids need to learn rewards are earned based on merit. If you train them early , you will create less entitled people who feel they should always just automatically be rewarded.

  5. They are children, if they are not treated equality they feel stigmatized. Give all children rewards full stop. Some people criticising, put yourself in her place. Be kind to children.

  6. Children need to know that you will not get an award unless they earn it adults have to earn their pay check when we go to work enough with every child getting an award for just showing up adults don't pay check for just showing up and not doing anything this a perfect reason why we have this entitled generation because of how parents raise their children as children growing up thinking that the world owes them something this mother is setting a poor example to her son.😅😅😅😅

  7. If she wants her son to get an award she should teach him how to put his best self forward and EARN an award

We need to stop awarding everybody because everybody is not a “winner” and everyone doesn’t “win” in life just for showing up and not giving the best effort 🤷🏽‍♂️
