Kenya police fire tear gas as protesters call for Ruto to quit

Protesters have fought with police in Kenya, during demonstrations calling on President William Ruto to resign. More than 170 people have been arrested and several injured, including journalists. The demonstrators are also demanding justice for more than 60 people killed during a crackdown on the protests that began last month.

  1. Protests in Nairobi were peaceful, but police responded violently by beating protesters and using tear gas. An attempt was made to apprehend an activist, and when someone shouted "thief," tear gas was deployed from an army truck. This action dispersed the gathered citizens, isolating them to facilitate the capture of Kasmuel. Despite the police's tactics, I believe Kasmuel will rise to power. In twenty years, I hope to see him as president, while the trigger-happy police will watch from the sidelines, hopefully still alive and not lost in the line of duty.
