I listened to the entire album yesterday night. This album departed too much from Afrobeats. Essence was an Afrobeats song with RnB leanings, and it straddled that line perfectly. This album sounds like an RnB album. Too much on the RnB side. Can she out-RnB people like SZA, Muni long, H.E.R. etc? At the end of the day, music is numbers game, and things like 'chart' positions Billboard 100 and UK top 40 etc are raw proof of the numbers of what a song or album is doing internationally.
