Episode 232: “Do You Remember The Time? All History is About the Future!”

Returning from Kemet [Egypt], this week’s session draws its title and focus from Black August’s admonition to “study, fast, train and fight.”
As 2024’s tumultuous and transformative season of world and US politics continues to unfold, we ask ourselves the critical question raised by Africana Cultural Meaning-Makers from Earth Wind…

@Agent99Wan

Thank goodness that girl in the t-shirt in the beginning of your video was not in this one. Just want to say, Michael Jackson was correct in the video. No one was showing the Egyptian as in the Video "Do You Remember the Time."

@BlackBeerdedNerd

Good afternoon I'm a Knubian but haven't been on the platform in a while. Anyways I see you started the conversation discussing Roberto Clemente, and I have an interesting story about it. on 8/11/2024 we were in Pittsburgh for Barrel & Flow which is an all Black beer, cider, arts, and music festival that happens in Pittsburgh, PA every year for the past 5 years. Well on that day we were having a brunch the day after the festival which took place on 8/10/2024, so the following day the brunch happened where all the Black brewers and participants in the festival gather to fellowship and say goodbye but also network as we do as a people. During that brunch a photographer decided to take a picture of the brewers/particpants and I am one myself, I produce MEAD(HONEY WINE); and I have participated in the festival 2 years in a row coming 3hours from Buffalo, NY. Well we were eating brunch across the street from the Pirates baseball stadium and the photographer took a pic of the organizer, Day Bracey (brother from Pittsburgh), and all the brewers together; somehow we all gathered on in front of the bridge (Roberto Clemente), and it had to be at least 100 of us in the photo, it was a moment where I think wasn't coincidence I think that was the ancestors. Well a good brother of mines from Philly who participates seen the photo after we took it and he said immediately (Harlem Renaissance photo) captured again. It blew my mind thinking of that but more importantly it captured a moment as Black folks in a space that is very white dominated and we came together to take that photo unintentionally but the ancestors spoke through and to us during this month of Black August. Well I immediately thought of you and Dr. Carr and said wow, Dr. Carr would dissect this image and say movement and memory and governance at its finest as the ancestors speak. I have and I'm in that photo and it was a beautiful thing, I would love to send that image through Narrative if possible and show how we come together as we always do as a people to represent a moment in time that will never happen again. Again I've been behind a week or 2 on the course, but I love you guys we are the global majority.

@robin314

DR. Carr and the Knubians, march forward❤️

@Caribbean_King

Do the thing today for the future!!! Thank you Dr. Hunter!!

@harbinger6562

Not dismissing the tensions between communities and law enforcement both have the same enemies it's getting easier to see🤔♥️

@harbinger6562

It's dumb because it's law and Order not divide Country along political lines 🤔♥️

@harbinger6562

I don't think it's seen but don't like the fact that war crimes are above law enforcement pay grades when it's threatening Everyones Livelihood and it's the reason to rally against Other Countries for a 🇺🇲 misrepresentation 🤔♥️

@coachdonnieb.420

Looking cute Karen.

@arene6707

Could it be that Pres. Joe Biden gave the nod to VP Kamala Harris to escape the demons he has over the Dr. Anita Hill and crime bill tragedy?

@AyaEneli-dn4yl

Another informative class.

@jetjones1010

Thanks!

@gregorycallaway5628

MICHAEL JACKSON VIDEO "DO YOU REMEMBER THE TIME"

@rescottjr

Thank you for the intellectual nourishment Professor Hunter, and Dr. Carr!✊🏾

@willgibbs7754

So as you said previously Dr Carr…we've seen this movie before!

@tblack1627

That quote from minute 40-42 is such a powerful way to look at the world and the sources of both of our miseducation and Knowledge of Self.

@lisacatlett7239

Gawd..their politics are trash. Smh. The rest of the show is useful EXCEPT politics.

@ricardo23davis

The 41.minute marker of this segment is EXTREMELY important to any self respecting AFRICAN

@Cneph1964

Added other book to my collection – Do you remember…Thank you Dr. Carr.

@henrywatts7033

Dr. Carr I was surprised to see you fall for the disunity that follows from casting blame and naming names and not present solutions by considering historical perspectives. Maybe NAACP and NUL don't know the answers like everybody else. Can ya'll meet and plan a way to get the 13 billion for the HBCUs ???? I realize this might be old news, but you get my drift. Rose Lain

@nationwyde1

It never fails! I ALWAYS learn something valuable from Dr Carr!

@henrywatts7033

Why do we treat every problem like it is an end game. When we saw dropouts – we sh hv instituted more band, music, travel. For single Mom's – perhaps a Kibbutz, instead each Mom struggling by herself through early childhood when the babies need engagement and teaching. So what are our answers to mass incarceration; homelessness; miseducation; drugs; healthiness; banning books and closing libraries. Notice: these problems were created to keep (poor people, the majority) down .

@NIJEECAPRICORN23

I always enjoy Dr Greg Carr wealth of knowledge 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@Niayolonda777

Good Afternoon Professor Hunter and Dr. Carr!
I can not enough express how much I AM learning from these teachings! What I truly love and appreciate is both of your love for us Africans here in America freeing ourselves from the mental and emotional bondage of NOT KNOWING! Love yall! 🙌❤️

@onyx1686

AIPAC though is the real problem. It’s an anti democratic, anti free speech organization, and should be listed as a foreign lobby.
It took out two Black vocal for Gaza leaders and Black people should be outraged about that! The message it sends is Black people should know their place and shut up.
Hell no! That’s not going to fly.

@dianneyoung2908

Hi to the both of you but I am so glad to see you back safe and sound. My prayers are being acid now I found you yesterday. I was looking for y’all and couldn’t find you, but it’s good to see you back again. Have a good one.

@kmttaseti

Thank you Prof. Hunter and Dr. Carr.

@Aminata65

Dr. Carr you looked refreshed after your sojourn to Kemet. ❤

@tandt7694

Suggestion – perhaps an online bid whist community can be created in knubia/knarrative?
I know there are ways for people to play remotely, and it does fall in line with the concept of a virtual repository of our history/culture.

@melhambrickscott232

I am a retired correctional officer, and America does have polity prisoners, I agree. It is sad.

@manueldavidson1398

Another great consciousness raising class in Nubia. Just trying to survive and exist in an otherwise insane, crazy, and ignorant society. I like your shirt with the year "1968" on it because that year I was 7 years old when MLK and RFK were assassinated urban uprisings broke out in many cities in the aftermath of MLK's murder, intense anti-war protests over Vietnam occurred at the Democratic Convention in Chicago. Thank you Dr. Carr and Professor Hunter for keeping an intense and very valuable as well as fruitful discussion.

@p.w.7493

Indeed, this space that we share is a THING, Prof. Hunter and Dr. Carr!!👏🏾👏🏾
It's so wonderful to be in community with you for this 🔥 🔥 🔥 ICWC Ep. #232.
Thank you for the recalled memories, knowledge, and awesomeness of 'the global majority'!!
Love y'all and all that you do for us!!
Blessings!🙏🏾🖤💯

@dejuanallen1988

Feed me Dr Carr!

@kbtokyo

To the Divine Nine rushing as a monolithic entity for judgement and support. A person goes to an HBCU to seek her blackness identity.. a facade as a social construct. Cosplaying the culture of black America and foundational black Americans is extremely dangerous. What were you thinking?

My thoughts on the upcoming election…

Voting is one of the most direct ways you can influence the world around you. By voting with your conscience and for the needs of your community, you’re participating in a collective effort to create a more just, equitable, and sustainable society. It’s about thinking beyond the present moment and considering the long-term implications of your choices.

As you approach the next election, take the time to reflect on what truly matters to you and your community. Research the candidates and policies on the ballot, and think about how they align with your vision for a better future. Your vote is more than a simple mark on a ballot—it’s a powerful tool for change. Use it wisely, and help build the world you want to see.

@MelMediaServices

There are some Saturdays when I am torn between amazement at the knowledge and wisdom of Dr. Carr, and the frustration that I, a man of 60 years of living, have been ignorant of many things political in the Nation. To hear today of how the Jesse Jackson presidential campaigns were undermined by Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and others who were planning their ascension soon thereafter…thank you for taking us on a JOURNEY every Saturday so that we are less ignorant and more informed and prepared for this moment. Peace…and I do remember.

I love and enjoy tuning in every Saturday evening here in the Silicon Valley, Northern CA.

@elleking7619

Getting some knowledge before bedtime . Bowl of cereal in hand, multigrain-Chex 😊

@RonnyThomas-x9u

🎉🎉🎉😂

@kennethdavis5309

Great show as always thanks…

@kemwershabbaka4351

"What path must we take?" How can you be anti-Zionist and promote Kamala and Tim? They're Zionists. Inconsistent politics, in my opinion. If you think you can move Harris away from her Zionist positions when she's married to a Zionist is unrealistic. Our humanity must be our politics. Neither party is worthy of our vote.

@Yahoo947

I was excited when I/we first met K. Harris. That is until I heard her speak a AIPAC and how she handled prisoners in California!! When Ben Netanyahu addressed congress it affirmed that both parties and most of our leaders are sold out especially when there is Miriam Adelson controlling & backing Trump. What is the answer?

@Yahoo947

Wild Flower and " Thats The Way of The World"….a testimony to the beautiful heart & soul of a strong Black and Woman! Dr. Carr as a student activist remains forever in my/our heart!

@Yahoo947

IF I/We could file a lawsuit against AI and the Bankers I certainly would! ….Again ….when I think about everything that good and right about life I think of Professors Greg & Karen.. Thank you for keeping hope alive. As Senior Citizens making an adjustment to this new technology & the expanding Transhumanist agenda is shocking and when we have power outages it's that much harder. Blessings & Respect …always!!!

@shellypearson5736

Good Evening Professor Hunter and welcome home Doctor Carr 😊
