  1. Not very traditional because before European contact, they did not have wheat to make flour to make Navajo fry bread so what did they use before that probably corn that would be traditional and that’s the recipe I would prefer to see

  2. My Mother and Grandmother used to bake bread every two weeks. When they did this they always set aside some dough for fried bread. It never ceased to be a treat that we looked forward to. Honey, hoemade jam, butter, whatever you wanted to put on. It was delicious, I had it in the back of my mind, but now I am going to have to start making it again!

  3. How much dry milk (considering there is protein and lactose, what happens when you add dry milk)? What type of oil do you use to fry? Thanks!
Also….do you have a video for how you make your beans?

  4. Indian fry bread was invented by a white man. When Indians received their first allocation of flour, lard and salt after relocation, they didnt know what to do with it. A Bureau of Indian Affairs agent thought up the recipe and now it has its current popularity

  5. I grew up in LatAm and my grandma would make this. I always thought it was poor people's meal. Didn't know it was something that native Americans also eat in this country. We just ate it like that, without any toppings. Usually with some tea or coffee.

  6. Having lived in southeast Arizona several years, we often had Apache frybread. We traveled north through to Canyon duche, Chinle to Four corners. Sometimes up to Showlow. Get Navajo fry bread wherever we could find it. My wife made it but while stretching it dropped hers. OOPS, good laughs her and the ladies prepping for gatherings. Nothing like frybread and blade steak. Shake powder sugar on a piece, better than cake for dessert. Thank you for sharing a tradition that needs shared and kept alive.
