British kids leave school at fourteen?!?! How is that tolerated! At fourteen, I was starting high school.
These guys are making case that britian was good and present history taught paint british is negative light but little they care to tell that they are not advocating for real history but for their version of history because even now the current history taught to kids is no way do justice to the amount of destruction britain did to a very large population around the world only to make a very small amount of people rich.

It’s true America has been taken over by communism/socialism while nation spend billions to fight it elsewhere! West view of formerly colonized nations is great example of patriarchal/master-slave view! Africa, India, Asia had civilizations and societies that addressed problems in their own indigenous ways that west is still unable to solve. Ex racism, gender bias, anti-lgbtq sentiments of evangelicals and church overall are huge problems unsolved by western thinking! I agree w RAfe about how world doesn’t speak about Islamic slavery which still continues in many countries! Biggest victims of Islamic slavery were Africans, Indian Hindus!
Many of Rafe’ points about capitalism are fine but saying colonialism was good is wrong! India under British became impoverished due to extraction economy! In 1947, after 250 yrs of colonial extraction ruin India’ gdp was 4%! Britain destroyed huge educational system in India called Gurukul system where majority of students were Shudras. India’s literacy was close to 90% at a time Britain was at 12% in early 18th century. British codified ‘caste’ into pigeon holed system cast in concrete from its original fluid Varma/jati system. Most Indian kings when Britain arrived were Shudras. When Britain abolished slavery, they imported Indians as indentured labor to the Caribbean Islands. So pl don’t say Britain chose to impoverish itself by abolishing slavery. They continued it by using colonized Indians! Churchill refused to acknowledge India’ famines caused by Britain removing farm produce to UK at the expense of starvation & death of Indians! Churchill is war hero in a European Christian war that cost 2M Indians to fight for Britain & due. Without the Indian soldiers Allies could very well have lost the war to Hitler! India’ contributions in all sciences & math were silenced or appropriated by Britain never giving it its proper recognition! There’s a lot more but this in a nutshell rebuts Rafe’ statement glorifying colonization! Looting $45T from India & not returning the Kohinoor & other treasure continues the pompous colonial attitude.

I remember, only a few years ago when I was in year 8 or 9, in high school, that my teacher told my class of a specific Nazi. She said that this Nazi committed some horrible atrocities then she asked what we would do to this Nazi. after me and my peers discussion, my teacher told us that this Nazi was actually a British person in stead who did these atrocities during sometime in the British empire and therefore the whole of the British empire was a bad and evil. now i can not remember what this guy did but it doesn't mean that the whole of the British empire is evil. I think she was misleading and was changing the view point of naïve young students. I don't think weather my teacher was to blame or the curriculum and my memory of it is not as clear as I would like.

To add to the conversation, India had 24% of global GDP before Britain arrived and it had 4% share when it left. China had about 26% of global GDP before Europeans arrived and it was a similar case to India when the Europeqns left. I am sure British people want to be proud of their history but don't miss out on facts.

Aristotle, Augustine of Hippo, Anselm and the great christian theologians were black as were the Greek philosophers. Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart were all black and opera is a black mans music stolen by white history makers. DaVinci was black as was Michelangelo and the Renaissance artists were all of African heritage.
