    Seychelles can be very expensive if not being mindful. For example, taxis offered by the hotels to the other side of the island could cost $50-70 but the local bus is only a few dollars a day for unlimited rides covering all of the bigger islands (but know that suitcases are not allowed on the bus). Secondly, there is a lot of local guest houses where prices vary from $40 to $80 per room for the budget options and not $500 for a night as the only option like most advertisements want you to believe. Airbnb has many good options as well.

    Going local is the most useful tip when it comes to food – instead of a $25 pizza at your hotel’s restaurant (did you really go on vacation to eat the same food as at home?), tasty local creole food costs $7-10 per person. And lastly, the same tours booked from a resort or bigger hotel can be two to even three times the price as when booked straight with the tour company in their office. Online prices are also often 10-20% inflated, so the best strategy would be to book straight in the office – the snorkelling spots will be the same regardless of the tour.
