Watch the train station scene: it is raining hard, they Rick and SAM are TOTALLT DRY
Strasser's epileps come and go in the later parts of the film
According to Ingrid Bergman in an interview she gave just before her death, Humphrey Bogart, while not unfriendly chose not to mix with the rest of the cast and he had frequent clashes with the director because the script was not finalisted until the end of shooting and no one knew whether Ilsa would end up with her husband or Rick!
Ingrid was a Heavy Smoker and Drinker
That other girl was only 19 when they shot the movie, and first married at 16

I have always considered this the best WWII movie. The symbolism in the movie is fantastic!
Rick’s nod to the band to play “La Marseillaise”, was symbolic of the entrance of the United States into WWII.
The number of cast members who actually escaped Europe and the Nazis, is amazing. Especially, Conrad Veidt, who played Major Heinrich Strasberg so convincingly. He had to escape Germany because his wife was Jewish.
I, too, have watched this movie many times. I never turn down a chance to see it! Because, Sam will play it again.
Well put together with the biographies and back stories.
The trivia was an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

negative , whiney comments from the usual suspects..!! I know they are a
minority but even so…!!
Norma Varden also played the Von Trapp's housekeeper in "The Sound of Music".
The great thing about this video is that it doesn't focus on their deaths. It focuses on their lives. We all die. But not everyone can say they were in 'Casablanca'.

They were trying to get exit visas. The letters of transit were stolen from German couriers by Peter Lorre and they become the solution to their dilemma since the Germans and the French authorities have denied them visas and they cannot get them on the black market either. But Rick has them since Peter Lorre's character was caught and killed. But he has a grudge against Ilsa. How will all this be resolved. That is the plot of the film. How would they even know to try and get letters of transit?
Curtiz is a very famous director. It would be a good thing if the narrator of this video knew how to pronounce his name.

I propose a Little Rascals/Our Gang tribute as a potential project. This concept presents numerous storytelling opportunities, as there are many compelling narratives associated with the various child actors and actresses who have appeared in the series over the years.
I have the film at least 100 times == no exasperation. At one time I knew the entire script by heart. We should also remember the scriptwriters.

Bogart and Peter Lorre were very good friends. Bogie called Lorre "The Creep".
Also, I never cease to appreciate Yvonne's beautiful, shimmering blouse in this movie.
My favorite line is given to Bogart's character. When asked what his nationality is Rick says "I'm a drunkard."
Claude Rains and Ingrid Bergman are together again in "Notorious" another superb, but underrated film which also stars Cary Grant.
As a high school student in the mid-60s, I had the iconic Bogie poster from Casablanca on my wall (along with one of Sophia Loren in a wet shirt….!) I was perhaps the last cohort of boys who wanted to be Bogie when they became men. We smoked unfiltered cigarettes and drank our bourbon straight. We never went looking for a fight, but we never (or wished we had never) run from a fight, particularly from a bully. We were supposed to protect women, the young, the old and the weak. We were supposed to uphold truth, justice and…yes, dammit…the American Way.
It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
