DDP hit a nerve because the narrative about Izzy coming from a wealthy Nigerian family is far from the truth. People from wealthy backgrounds don't end up fighting for a living. The media's portrayal of Izzy having servants as a child was an exaggeration of a story most Nigerians share. The average Nigerian (low/middle/upper class) grows up with servants (aka house-helps) in the home – human labor (nannies, cooks, drivers, etc.) is unbelievably cheap in the 3rd world. It's really not a sign of wealth like folks in the west would be inclined to think.
