I made this recipe with store bought pastry and it came out beautifully ! I added a dash of worcestershire and a little rosemary and almost cried when I tasted it…..Sooooo Gooood !

Among the British meat pastries, my favorite one was Cornish pasty, but sometimes I bought steak and kidney pie instead, if there was non left. I remember that the smell of kindey was prominent in those pies, once i had taken a bite beyond the crust, which took a while to get used to, but on the whole it wasn't all that bad, quite filling in fact. That was back the mid seventies, when i was a student in London. I never had a home-made one though .
