  2. It's great to increase financial literacy and explore side hustles but that is not a long term solution. If the economy continues to contract at this rate, they will be no market for whatever goods or services you are offering because people will be broke. The average person simply wont be able to afford the cost of living and will have little to no disposable income. This is not just pessimism but it is understanding that an impending economic recession is not conducive to flourishing entrepreneurialism. Most small "side hustles" are simply not sustainable in this macro environment.

  3. How you made money is irrelevant. It's all about mindset. There has been four economic disruptions in 20 years. You focus on your venture during good or bad times because if you leave your destiny in others hands, they will always choose theirs first. Step 1.Adaptability.

  4. I am 30, growing up my mother always told us don’t eat with all your fingers meaning always save for rainy days. Number one tip always spend less than you earn and have some emergency fund. Also if your country offers covid19 help look to see if you are entitled don’t let pride prevent you.

  5. For some of you lucky enough to still be in employment please use this time to build up an emergency fund. We need to get out of this habit of living pay cheque to pay cheque. With your excess residual income you should also look to invest in the stock market. It's the number 1 wealth building tool. A simple investment in a fund such as the s&p 500 will reap great rewards in the next 10-15 years and build generational wealth for your family.

  6. I remember being at university (19 at the time) and not being able to pay my deposit for my second year accommodation, I felt so disappointed in myself for not saving properly.

Going forward I taught myself to be extremely disciplined with my money, sometimes too disciplined. Whenever I get paid I always paid myself first and in situations where I haven’t been able to work it’s been a life saver!

Trying to find new avenues of income as one income since this pandemic has been a real eye opener.

  7. Hi, free advice : try to grow Aloe Vera plants in bio quality, which will grow in Nigeria like weed ( due to the sun) . It has a very healthy gel inside the leaves which could be used for cosmetics.

  8. Hi again, squandering money on shoes, bags and jewellery s.o. only wears once or twice ( these must be 80% females…) is Not lack of knowledge but a character trait/ flaw. One should really be aware how one spends money and maybe distribute part of it to bless others.

  9. Early March I was made redundant and got paid off. Wife is on maternity leave. Pay off and savings can take care of us for 4months. I couldn't sleep well but thank God for my wife she didn't pressure me at all the one week I stayed home. Infact we had a drink to new opportunities. Boom!, A week later I got a call for a job i applied to do same thing I did in my former place. Went for interview and was told to start on Monday. One week without work and a family was really scary. Still working now even when govt have locked down different industries. I pray families caught up in this will find a way through.

  10. 4 years ago my husband was laid off and he was our main source of income due to me being on maternity leave.
We literally struggled like something else…life was tough.
We learnt a lot from that experience. Life can be unpredictable and it can shock you 😩😩
