  3. Mr Idris Elba. I hope you read this message!! I really liked you and had a lot of respect for you. However, that all changed when I saw you on an “advert” declaring you had COVID19. LIES, LIES, LIES! A sell out! I was so surprised to see you do that! Further to that, you made a movie called “Yardie.” What was that about? Your film simply promotes violence and drug dealing. What positive message are you creating and sending to the young people both inside and outside the Caribbean? Do you not think we have enough problems in the Caribbean with drugs; for you to produce and promote something like this across the world? Big Man please remember something. In the Caribbean, we live as “One People, One Nation.” You did not even have the respect to put your main star “Rico”, as a real Jamaican person …Ridiculous!!! What gives you the right to make film like this? You are not from the Caribbean. You are from Africa! It’s like me having a friend from Ghana, where you are from, who makes a film about Ghanaian people, making them look like they are all drug dealers and tells everyone lies about life in Ghana. What is that? Let me set the record straight. The people from the Caribbean, were not slaves from Africa. We were indigenous to that region. We were there for thousands of years. We were not brought from Africa as slaves, to the Caribbean or America. Christopher Columbus came back with 130 ships after his first trip there, and massacred us. He made us into slaves and sold the idea “we were slaves from Africa” to everyone in the world. LIES, LIES, LIES. People from the Caribbean and Africans have nothing in common whatsoever.

It’s like you saying “All white people are from England.” Don’t you think the Caribbean people have gone through enough? You are supposed to be an intelligent man. I expect you, in the same way you went on TV about your COVID19, your DJ and movie career, you can go on TV and make an apology about your latest drugs film. You can explain why drugs are not good for people and the abomination it causes in people’s lives. The people living in England of Caribbean descent, after watching your film, must be thinking all sorts of bad things about their older generation.

Let me remind you of something. When my parents and others came from the Caribbean, they arrived wearing 3-piece-suits and most of them spoke better English than the Queen. Further to that; when our parents landed, there were no African people here. So, wherever you got this idea from is completely wrong! The Caribbean people actually helped rebuild England after the war. So, again, I am expecting you to be a big man and go on TV and make an apology to all the Caribbean people across the world, and tell the youths not to be involved with drugs.

I have entertained the ex-president of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings, a few times in the Caribbean. I am planning to have a conversation with him about you, and your actions, if you do not resolve this situation. If you want to make a film, make one about people from Ghana dealing drugs and committing fraud. You have offended many people, some of which have the ability to influence your career. I ask you politely to make a world-wide apology about your film “Yardie”. Once you apologise, I will send for you to come and see me (when you are next in Hollywood). A lesson for you to remember: The law of gravity dictates “what goes up, must come down”. Please do the right thing. Remember, Hollywood is a small place my friend.
