  1. Ay mina vele these soapies traumatize me when they end while I still need more joburg kings .shadow .blood and water .queen sono .still waiting for season 2 of all these and yoh waiting is terrible .now on episode 3 of shadow and I’m loving every bit of it

  2. I guess I should have came here before watching Shadow over a dozen of times. I need to know when is the second, third, fourth and so on seasons are coming. It was so refreshing to see such great talent from South Africa. It as was almost like watching the T. V. series The Equalizer, but this was like 100 times better. By the way, what's up with Gigi? Will we ever get to see her? I would like to see more from South Africa. So Netflix, get on it.

  3. Is super-camp, very tongue in cheek… but awesome. I saw the first five minutes and thought I would hate it but it's actually very self aware and really enjoyable. I don't know if anyone remembers VIP, Pamela Anderson, but just like that. Never takes itself too seriously and, as it turns out, brilliantly funny. 8.5/10

  4. I'm not South African I'm South America living in the US, and have only seen Nigerian plays thus, I'm truly inspired to see a South African movie with such quality. Hoping to see more episodes I have binged watched all 8 already not once but thrice.

  5. Spoilers

That episode about the father playing the game to pay for his son’s medical treatment made me tear up. Some shows today make characters so one dimensional that you don’t care about what happens to them. But this show made me actually care because of the relationship between the father and son. It felt real so I got to say, good job to the directors writers and actors. Please stick to what you did in season 1 and don’t bring politics into the show. That ruins all the tv shows I used to watch.

  6. I saw the show, can't say I was blown away. there were nice moments, nuances giving me a glimpse into black lives that are not the cliche I usually see in the media. However, I thought it could've been more layered, gritty from a South African perspective. what I mean by this is I didn't have to shift my perspective much while watching. there were loads of formulaic components much like American shows ala Luke Cage. Shadow & his sister were believable. Amanda's character was transparent. I'm sure she has a great capacity to lose herself in a more complex role. To me, there was no unique cinematic language. I'm sure the filmmakers strive to be honest but I see no truth in the last frame where – Shadow at his BLACK BABY'S grave kissing a WHITE BABY ANGEL. I just wish I could've have seen more African heart & soul.
