How to make an authentic Moroccan Harira
How to make an authentic Moroccan Harira
Harira is more than just a soup. For most Moroccans, it is centre of the Iftar (Breaking fast) table. It has almost a cult status and it lives up to the hype. Harira is an amazing tomato soup. It’s a delicious mix of spices and fresh herbs, with vegetables (mainly tomato). You can cook it with or without meat but if you can, use bones and…

I dont live in mediterranean but chilean summer tomatoes works just as fine 🙂
Salaam Simo! Is there a vegetarian version of this recipe? I assume it wouldn’t require a pressure cooker. Would love to try it!
Sorry if i asked many question but if i timed everything with 10, it become 500g flour….would that be too much??
It it possible to make without a pressure cooker? If yes, how?
Hi Simo! I'm all prepped to make your recipe, but just wanted to ask: if I'm making the harira in advance and will be keeping a few portions in the fridge, do you recommend holding off on thickening the harira and/or adding the thin pasta (i bought Daria brand angel hair)? Just worried the pasta might absorb all the liquid or the soup get too 'lumpy'!
Hi am planning an Iftar in our youth club and i need a recipe that is enough for 100 pepole, it will be small serving of Harira as we will be making other dishes. so its about 100g per person. How much indgridents i need??
Your channel rocks! I miss Morocco and moroccan food so much.
I am someone who really relies on measurements (just began learning how to cook) and my Moroccan mom who never uses measurements can’t help me much 🤪 I tried this the other day and IT WAS PERFECT!!!! It tasted JUST like my mom’s harira!!! My mom also watched the video and said it was 100% authentic and the same way she does it. Shukran bezaffff khoya, you are a lifesaver! Helping me learn my ancestors cooking!
Under rated recipe and channel! Most of your recipes are on point!! I hope you get the recognition you deserve!
Ramadan Moubarak Khoya
can i use a crockpot instead?
Jazakallah khair
Thank you for the recipe 😊
I'm a bit surprised because I just came back from Marrocco and all the Harira I had there were without meat. So is that ok too? 😊
What can I take as alternative instead of sellerie (s. makes me sick)?
Thanks alot its amazing love it
Mash'Allah. Very delicious and professionally done. But, khoya, I have a question, when I was in Morocco, not far from El Jdida, they don't make it like this, no meat either and I got told off for trying to add chicken to it when I made it hahaha.. I guess each part of Morocco make it differently or is this the original main traditional style? 😅😂
❤❤❤
Brother if I’m not using pressure cooker then how much water should I use?? Please let me know thanks 🙏
Yummy ❤
My local grocery store used to make Harira during the month of Ramadan, many years ago, I fell in love with it and haven't really had it since, though I would pretty much eat it every single day back then & I'm not even Muslim.
Ramadan Kareem 🌙 this was delicious 🤤 Shukran❕🫶🏻
This came out soooo good!!
I absolutely love your vessels. Beautiful pottery. Thank you for sharing your culture with my kids and i – we really enjoyed it.
Wow. I can’t wait until I try this recipe. I do have a question though. If I were to use a regular pot instead of a pressure cooker would that be ok? Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you
😂
I love your video, since this Ramadan have not eaten harira so I want to make it my self. Kindly write out the ingredients and process on how to make it for me, thx.
Hi, thanks for sharing! I find your recipe one of the best I have seen for harira. just one question – do you use a little bit of hot pepper paste ( I mean harissa) for harira or not?
When we were kids we hated Harira and always had it last LOL We always rushed to eating starchy food like Melwi and milk and coffee and fill up with Zmita LOL This is a great recipe Simo, I am going to attempt to make a video of it; i like that you made it a bit thick, just the way i like it. Also, who didn't have Harira all scattered on their ceilings LOL – Say hi to Lawalida xoxo
