  1. Funny I tried to Dine and Dash at that Yemeni Restaurant in Addis last year and the whole staff was physically detaining me asking where their money was at. I thought I was going to spend the night in African jail for a second there but the owner of the restaurant came out and ordered his staff to release me and said that he'll pay for my meal. Dodged a bullet right there 😮‍💨

  3. Dear Samiya

We do love watching your remarkable vlogs.

Just to remind you regarding the sound in your videos ( believe me you can do better) too much surrounding noises.

Thanks and may Allah bless you

  4. I admire this generation of horn of africa because we are starting to appreciate and love each other. ❤ somali brothers and sisters from ethiopia.

  5. Glad you enjoyed Yemeni food my sister.
It is a shame it was expensive. Yemeni food is normally reasonably priced compared to other foods.
The Soup you had is called Maraq
The mix salsa is called Chutney or Bisbas (Green chilies)
They also do Ashar (pickled lime in red chilies) if you prefer this to Bisbas
The tea is the famous Adeni Tea (Adani shahi)

  6. No Banana and rice in Yemen.of of
I am a Somali who grew up in Yemen all my life (over 40 years!) and I can't understand the concept of banana and bariis myself!

  7. This is so interesting. I always wanted to go to Ethiopia and I will be travelling there (and to Somaliland) with a tour at the end of February next year. It's great to see what it is really like – thank you 😀😀

  8. Birr 2384 is definitely very expensive. I was expecting the price to be half that amount. Samiya both you and your mom have beautiful genuine smiles. I like your positive outlook about everything even when there is a bunch to complain about in the environment where you visit. Keep it up.

  9. Somali and Yemeni restaurants are very similar in many ways:
A- customers are always very loud
B- too much rice and meat, but less vegetables
C- No organized crowd control and systematic seating order – people end up walking towards all direction , up and down in all areas of the restaurant. However, food is delicious and always extra hot.
