Jamaican Sorrel and/or Hibiscus needs to have Clove, Pimento, Cinnamon, Ginger and Mace. Traditionally Evaporated Cane Juice or Logwood Honey is used as a sweetener.
I used to go to a Jamaican American church when i was a kid in Brooklyn. My mom was our church cook for many years. My mother is known for being a little heavy handed when it came to Sorrel. One Christmas Sunday she had the 'smart' idea to bring some white rum and tips just a bit in the Sorrel for an authentic Jamaican flavor. It can hurt nobody right? But she tips a likkle too much inna di Sorrel. After church we ate and drank Sorrel. Needless to say, when we had our evening service, that was service to remember. Di whole church drunk off. Ah di first time me ever see old sister Johnson move so wicked inna church. Di whole church catch ah fire. And some people was to get baptized. Bishop Foss nearly drown off di whole ah dem. One piece ah dancing and shufflin. Every boot heel bruck off.
Next time please show us how you washed your hands

How much water to use for a 8 ounce pack of sorrel
I put cinnamon sticks, pimento, cloves, ginger and sweetened with sugar and add some red label wine in it. Tried it last year and enjoyed it. You should try it too ๐
Thank you for sharing the good video.
Just got back from St. Kitts and had Sorrel drink for the first time and loved it. Have returned home to Canada and found a Caribbean market and bought some sorrel. Canโt wait to try making it although we also bought some sorrel and ginger concentrate syrup.
Why are you wasting water like that.
Ohโฆ this looks refreshing and gooooood! I'm definitely going to try it! We make Ghanaian Sobolo a lot โ The Hibiscus petals and ginger, but with pineapple, citrus fruits, and all sorts of peppers & spices)โฆ this looks not only easier, but better for summer! THANK YOU

Love the video! What if you want it to ferment a bit and drink it fizzy? I would pour into glass bottles and then what? Do you leave it in the pantry to carbonate?
Thanks for the great content!

Did I miss the part where cinnamon sticks and pimento seed (and bay leaf optional )was added into the brew or not everyone does that??
As a Trini never used ginger will try next time cinnamon and clove always โฆ.amazing the amount of sugar you need to add perhaps the ginger calms the sourness? Thanks
Does it have to be stored in the fridge?
Thank you for this
Thank you so much for making this video. I enjoyed making this sorrel drink.
We love each other, we must help one another, i give praise to this young beautiful woman.
I love how my brother's and sister's make these videos for us. People tell me to make videos, i don't want to. I use organic ginger , i squeeze ginger in a one ounce glass, drink it down. If you have high blood pressure want those mumbers to drop, take a piece of garlic, chew it spit it out, just get the juices. Boil 4 pieces off the garlic bulb make a tea, pressure goes down.
