Great Video. Hits all the CPU classics: Dillon referencing hookers, Dutch "threatening" to buy Jules a bottle and Jules being appreciative, Dutch and Dillon ignoring Jules score till the end, Dutch being shocked at it getting a silver when he initially had a silver, spending 3 minutes arguing over the same score but disagreeing why the score is the same.
Balcones is doing just fine and isn't going anywhere. In fact, now focusing on Single malts. American single malt isn't "a fad".
It finally hit Ohio and it's 59.99 so it's gonna be a no for me after your review.
BU is only rye
I'll still with Old Forester at 1/3 the price. Barley malts are OK, but don't excite me.
American Single Malt is amazing. The weather is different in the USA and people who appreciate good whiskey will enjoy it. One thing I’ve noticed is the aging for something like Balcones or Westland gives an advantage (IMO) to distillers in the US vs Scotland but it’s a matter of figuring out what those up and down temps do to the product over time. I’m a person that likes variety so I think it’s great but I don’t think they are trying to take away Bourbon or Scotch drinkers but more presenting an alternative to the crazy allocated prices on bottles. ASM makes sense, and Bulleit surprised me by how good it is, especially aged for only 3 years or so.
$35? Where did you buy that? So Cal TW 750 ml is $60
This was an amazing episode with the banter. I knew this bottle was nothing special, I was here for the banter 😂
If you can get ahold of one you should compare it to the New Riff Single Malt. Great review!
The interaction here was top notch. Reminds me of the spirited, yet pointless, debates I have with my closest friends, but this time I got to be a spectator. Lol.
That being said, I'll continue to be the curmudgeon about your scoring system. Dutch, for example, was complaining loudly about the grain notes on the palate, yet gave it a 16! A grainy, sweet, one dimensional whiskey sounds average at best. Use the lower part of your scale! The 10 (average) is starting to feel lonely. Use it!
Rant over. Notes were excellent, as usual. Cheers guys.
It is sadly 62 in st louis
Great video! Request #11 for a Balvenie Drinkthrough (TM) or at minimum, for a Balvenie product to show up in a blind or ultimate spirits competition
The crew is firing on all cylinders for this review 😂 I love when Dutch gets enraged lol
No way it’s good. What bourbon producers are dialed in on malt treatment? Very few. I doubt bulleit or whoever they sourced this from is.
I think you guys should listen to Dutch, he is always right. Ofc it’s gonna be grain, barley is a grain.
Jules with the come from behind slap down to bronze. Disgraceful.
Great stuff as always. Are we sure it wasn't just Dutch's Glencairn and that it might not be completely clean?
Bulleit isn’t going to take down Pappy ever, but it’s darn good Whiskey, they totally found their niche in the market!
I was really expecting one of Jules' patented 3 point swings in at least one category.
So funny seeing you guys bullying eachother 😆
You're all right equally in my heart 🤣
I dont think any of u guys can really smell malt im the only qualified malt smeller here
That was a wild ride…US Single Malt is very hit or miss. Some good ones but a lot of awfulness out there
I'm going to buy a bottle to just see if it's grain forward or not.
I'll take this review with a GRAIN of salt … 😉
Please review Port Charlotte 10. Or if you want the Port Charlotte 18.
I mean, Dutch is right that barley is a grain, but it is not like rye, wheat, or corn, granted. Maybe Dutch is getting a more "raw" flavor to the barley than Julies or Dillion. Either way, I learned today that Bulliet has a single malt. Very cool!
I've found that American single malts produced west of the Mississippi tend to be distinctively creamy in a way that is different than Irish whiskey or Scotch. Westview's Stout Cask is the most distinct American single malt because it doubles down on the creaminess. (American single malts made in Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana by older bourbon distilleries tend to taste like toned down bourbons.)
I still can't wrap my head around why you don't want to taste malt in malt whisky. 😅
Grain! Yes or no? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not quite sure where you buying that from, but it's 60 bucks in my area
I will pass and stick with my Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Laphroaig!!
last time I checked Bulliet is sourced from Mgp!
The poor hookers, being demeaned by person’s reviewing a $ 35.00 beverage. 😂
Bulliet = MGP Brand outlet store marketing wank in full effect like a DF64 coffee grinder and all its different brand labels
Interesting!
MGP does have a 100 % Barley mash bill. I saw this bottle and was also wondering about the "bottled by" line without a "distilled by" reference.
Great video
I mean, as long as Jules' favorite whiskey is still fruit juice, I guess him really liking sugar water makes sense.
