Just returned from 9 nights in Sal, Cape Verde. First time ever in Africa. I found the whole experience fantastic – even though I never left the resort I was in. I just wasn't up for sight-seeing this time around, I just wanted to rest. My main daily activity was just walking for hours up and down the wonderful beach. I found the locals very friendly and would recommend going to Cape Verde. I am already planning my next trip there. The next time around I will do some sight-seeing, For though of us in Europe who normally go the Caribbean, Cape Verde is a very good alternative because the flight time is 6 hours, rather than the 9 hours to the Caribbean. Also to stay in a 5 star resort for say 1.5 weeks is about 2/3 of the price of a similar resort in the Caribbean. Plus, it is for now no where as busy as most Caribbean hotspots. No hordes of Americans. I had a truly blissful, peaceful stay.
