André de Ruyter: More Truth to Power

No-one shone a brighter light on the corruption at ESKOM than former CEO André de Ruyter who had to leave South Africa for his own safety. Speaking to BizNews from the United States, he says the corruption at ESKOM continues “by and large unabated” – enabled by the procurement policy in government departments and State-owned entities – and…

  1. New pebble bed small nuclear power, the sun, we got lots (solar) and coal thats redesigned is more that we need.
Just needs cleaning up of dirty politics, from government and private sectors.
And SME business, creat jobs. Future is bright, ?

  2. Here is a clue – the underlying factor is the criminal syndicate called the ANC! Surely we can do better with appropriate policies? Sure thing, but never as long as the ANC is anywhere close to government power!

  3. André has been put in the position to be part of the problem, while soothing the public, not to fix the problem. Renewables and decarbonisation is a scam to impoverige the man on the street while enriching people like André.

  4. The problem with South Africa is that the ANC think politics is a business, Why would they want to invest in a once off deal that could solve SA power issues when the minister of energy would lose money in his coal business, or fuel in his political business, which both supply eskom. So messed up. give politicians a high salary, but ban them from owning or working on the side

  5. To my view the whole mess with ESCOM has to do with the ANC government who seem to be more racist than the previous NP government. They refuse to take the help of (white) Engineers offered to them to solve the problem. BEE is a big failure which only benefits the rich blacks anyway. With so many qualified young people leaving the country as they do not get certain positions because they are white! Wake up ANC and stop telling us 'there is no black racism. !

  6. Your contributions have been substantial. However, you need to brush up on your renewal energy approach, in terms of life span, costs of installation, maintenance, impact on environment, and when we speak to storage, the rare earth minerals needed for batteries are unsustainable. We should not knock back LPG as an option, as well as more nuclear power stations. Both have a very low carbon footprint compared to coal fired plants

  7. All u say is correct but all this happen because bee is run some minister who can loot bee is distroy all sectors inthis country all this is stealing tax money

  8. Hi Andre, what an open and honest interview. I truly hope there is a way that this interview could get more airtime to the general public in South Africa so that the masses could understand that our government is corrupt at the highest levels. The ANC is rotten and corrupt right through to the highest levels. I wish everyone in SA could see through it all and realise that the ANC needs to go completely. We need a proper government that actually cares about it's people and the economy. EFF will be just the same as the ANC for sure… So we really need a guy like you at the helm of the country. Someone who at least speaks as well as you do and doesn't bullshit or beat around the bush. I truly hope that someone, who is like-minded like you, takes over this country. You clearly know what you're talking about. Much more than our own government and, you're not even living here.

  9. Not to worry Mr DE Ruyter, the whole damn country knows all about their dirt.So whatever new dirt comes to light,we are not supprize at all,the problem is,will we as SA'CANS ever be able to rid SA clean from this filthy thick skins whi dint know the meaning of having a clean conscience???????
