Failed state, that’s a stretch… it is a third world country after all, yes in many ways you can compare certain aspects of South Africa with first world countries but a constant mistake made is when people view the country through a first world lens.. If you compare it to many developing countries it really punches above its weight. Corruption and bad policies have limited the country’s growth and potential. We can all agree that South Africa is not where it should be given its potential, but to call it a failed state is drastic. A very one sided presentation (as factual as it is) but it’s not all doom gloom in the republic, there have also been major developments (despite our economy being at its worst) that have occurred over the last 5 years … Anyways it’s a western perspective nothing is ever positive when it comes coverage of Africa
