Racism in Germany | DW Documentary

“I was born in Germany. German is my mother tongue. I was in Africa just once in my life – on a package holiday,” says Konrad Erben, a student in Jena. Nevertheless, many people insist Erben can’t be German because he is Black. But Afro-Germans have been living in Germany for a long time. Hundreds came from German colonies during the…

  1. SAd i had no idea how much Germany had to do with colonialism……The saddest thing is that alot of the things here have not changed today at all!! Especially in the football region.

  2. In Netherlands you also have racism, but I think it is less than Germany. The Netherlands has been more outward looking due to its seafaring history for 400 years, and also came in contact with other races much earlier than Germany. You even had free blacks living in Amsterdam in the early 1600s, they lived in the same street as Rembrandt and he even painted some of them.

  3. As a white person living in Africa, black Africans treat us as outsiders. We don’t get TV shows crying about how bad racism is here 🤣 we just buck up and if it’s so bad we will have to leave. Africa has kicked its non black populations out of many countries, so get over it. The west is far more tolerant of them than they are of us.

  4. I love…… "we are here because you were there" !!!!!!!!!…. nothing else to explain!…….I just hope my favorite group Boney M. didn't suffer any racism in Germany !………..greetings from Mexico!

  5. We can make all the documentaries in the world about racism, but they still don't care. They'll watch it and the next following minute still be the same. Why? It's in their gene. First of all, they train you to that ideology, until it becomes an unconscious behaviour, natural to them. They ALSO have non verbal codes that you can understand very well when you just pay attention.

  6. Racism is just a big brother to tribalism, ethnism , nationalism. If you part of the above listed, you have no right to critics racism. I am from a tribe most hated in Nigeria so let me leave here.

  7. Very sad. I've never liked Germany or its history. It's a horror. I don't know how anyone can feel proud to be German. Every passing day, I find it shocking how cruel Europeans were to African people, and how tolerant and accepting we Africans were of so much humiliation. The history of humanity is very sad… They want and have made us believe they are better than us in everything, and we're being swallowed by what they call civilization, with all their hypocrisy and malice. They devalue our culture, and we think they're right. Civilization is wearing a suit, having technology, speaking correctly, etc. For me, being civilized is having a high-level understanding, being empathetic, respecting others. That's what being civilized is. A civilized person doesn't see skin color… they're more interested in getting to know the character and essence of a person, their knowledge, etc., regardless of whether they wear a suit or not. What hypocrisy from Europeans and Americans; a black person born in Africa is an Afro-European or Afro-American. And a white or American born in Africa is what? Evolve, please…. What a race full of hypocrisy… and dirty strategies, all for money… what disgusting people.
