Imad walks us through his formative experience in Algeria and Nigeria, reflecting on how the African continent has shaped him. He shares his perspective on how separate identities affect our relationships with ourselves, with Africans on the continent and within the diaspora; and how these experiences will shape the identity of what it is to be…

  1. Imad would do more good to insist the European, American, Chinese, and African interests who I suspect help butter his biscuits pay back every coin they pilfered from Africa. He's like a western-trained socio-economic anthropologist snitching on his own who, in this case, will exact financial relief only for himself. Nothing he does helps effect collective self-determination for Africa, because unless it benefits them more, his benefactors wouldn't be interested — which is me letting charity prevail. The sad moral of this story: Talk is cheap.

  2. Great talk. I love his perspective. I once met an Algerian in turkey once. We felt so happy and connected cos of our being africans .but that was d only time I had a supposedly 'white-looking african" get so excited when we chat about being africans .I do love to see more people like him and u..

  3. I'll be honest, I love my North African brothers and sisters, especially those who know that they African, yet Global citizens. One thing I will say is, I wish North and Southern Africa could trade more, and integrate, unite and experience each other. Also airlink services, instead of depending on the ME airlines.

  4. Thank you for educating us on what being African is all about. I'm a Nigerian myself and I do know that African countries suffer the same Fate.whether you're from Eastern, Western northern or southern we are all the same, as you said we all have binding values and history.

  5. A very honest man,he sees the world as it is,We are all different, mankind will never ever think act or be the same we are different from each other and we always will be.we don’t want to be the same.If it were so,this world would be a drab and miserable world. Our cultures are different It cannot beotherwise.

  6. That was WONDERFUL for a reason. He didn't DISTRIBUTE people on on their….maybe DIFFRENT nationalities or different histories. and also his personal life stories looks like too many peoples' stories but those people didn't think like him.

  7. Imad I was speechless when I listened to you. Africa needs more and more people like you that have the same vision. I believe that not long from now, Africa will become the greatest nation in the world. Thanks for this video.

  8. No offense, but at his first sentence of I’m a proud Algerian and proud African, I immediately thought he probably grew in Subsahara Africa, probably West Africa with my loving anf fun brothers from IVORY COAST 🇨🇮🥰🥰. I love Africa and African. If I knew the value of my people and continent, I would have NEVER MOVED to the USA. Even though I love the USA, great country and people, home is always sweet home. Bless the World and may us all understand one day that we are all human.❤️❤️❤️

  9. He doesn't look white. He looks Hispanic. And just like Latin America, Algerians like him are mixed. Or in this case, pure Arab. Many people, especially in the Maghreb, forget that North Africa historically has no natural boundaries to prevent immigrants, refugees, and invaders; this led to thousands of years of migrations and forced intermingling with natives there.

He probably wants to be white so badly.

  10. To be honest, I was quite hesitant to play the video wondering what a white man could say about being African! Alas! He's indeed African, what a shame that I know little about my continent! Thanks brother for the awareness. However, we must acknowledge that there's a gap between north Africa and the rest of Africa that we need to bridge.

  11. I am proud African too but the problem i see that has kept us back is 1885 Berlin Conference.
We must agree to live together in our nations not sticking with the colonial construct of present African states.
Let's support referendum to re construct our borders and create autochtonous countries .
    I love Africa.

  12. Algerians are indigenous Africans of Amazigh descent except many have some Southern European ancestry because of proximity and ancient history of occupiers.
