  1. I think Alcaraz would've won the French Open last year, if he hadn't had that episode in the match against Djokovic. Alcaraz had won a set back and Djokovic looked seriously rattled at that point

  2. He made a really nice adaptation by using his backhand more offensively rather than running around to hit forehands the way he often does. It's actually worked really well in this match and gives him a chance to get comfort back in his right arm without overdoing it first match back. Really smart approach and shows he can use other forms of attack. I think his backhand is more reliable and I like seeing him attack short balls with the backhand rather than always trying to get it on his forehand.

  3. Lack of experience from Shevchenko is obvious here. He knows he can't out hit Alcaraz but that's all he knows how to do – crush the ball and hope for the best. Alcaraz just camped behind the baseline to smash groundstrokes after groundstrokes.

Some slice, dropshots, chip and charge would have changed the tempo. But good work on Carlos, amazing power and shots.

  4. Yes, ok, I'm the first to admire Carlitos and his style of play, but many comments I've read here are excessive (and many of which come from people who didn't even watch the whole match but only the highlights)

He won against a guy who is at number 60 in the ranking, who has never won an ATP tournament, who has never reached beyond the first round in the slams and who so far has lost almost all the matches played against top 10…

  5. I personally think Alcaraz is well-rounded on all surfaces. He won Wimbledon and US Open. I think this year he will shine in the clay season. Maybe he will win RG? We’ll find out but best of luck to him and I hope he stays healthy.

  6. Carlitos is an incredible Tennis Player , people enjoy watching him playing you can watch so many matches but when Carlitos plays , is another dimension , the crowd enjoys and cheers for him and myself watching him on tv , hope he stays healthy . go Carlitos

  7. Good warm up match for Alcaraz. A good test of his right arm readiness for matches; suspect he up the intensity of his back hand to compensate. Shevchenko made too many UF errors to trouble him.

  8. The 1 thing holding tennis back is if you had it on the TV, your whole house thinks you're watching porn. I wish everybody would stop the grunting. It's like people chewing with their mouth open. It's unnecessary

  9. I can see a new champion coming on the scene in this RG….In a long while we are seeing many more contenders for RG title as Rafa is struggling and Novak runs out of gas by quarter/semis….I can smell a new champion in this French open after almost 2 decades.
Well…Sinner,Tsitsipas,Carlos and Ruud all have an equal chance this time around.
