This happened to me when I was about 17 years old. A contact slipped up under/behind my top eyelid, and I was unable to get it back out for TWO DAYS. Slept with it feeling like it was digging behind my eye and EVERYTHING. Finally got it out and it was one of the scariest things that ever happened to me. I avoided going to the doctor because I was scared they would need to do some type of eye surgery to remove it.
