Luke was speechless for a while …. I think he has learned English from Barbara today 😉 Ciao
cool Barbara, thank you
Great episode and thanks to both of you. Her English is clear, fluent and confident but, yes, accent wise does put our minds thinking that of some region outside the UK. I also notice her personality more cheerful and bubbly than a general Brit. It’s cultural thing. She’s outside of that British culture frame or thick glaze. There is no good or bad. Just different. One can never fake to be one who’s not, plus no need to be one. You can tell I’m a British or English cultural outsider. Just be yourself – the most and only important thing.
My daughter is Vietnamese and before 7 years old . She has uk accent from Peppa pig and now her accent is American . She learns in bilingual school but her English is better than her Vietnamese . 😂😂😂😂😂 it’s really easy to learn language like a child . People couldn’t understand how h hard to pronounce words …
Thank you for this video, Luke! While listening to Barbara saying that nobody have ever guessed that she is Italian I understood the same thing happens to me) I have been living in Vietnam for 6 months now and nobody has ever said that I am Russian (okey only one man at the souvenir store cause I speak Vietnamese and he guessed as there is a few number of russians speaking vietnamese very well). Sooooo most of people (not only Vietnamese, other foreigners as well) think I am French and I once asked a guy from France about it and he said I sound kind of French) (probably cause I'm learning French who knows!) That is really an interesting thing to play a guessing game with people trying to guess where I am from xd
Thanks for the voiced. Rather sleepy be continued later. Nice. Good Night.
What a wonderful interview! Thanks to Barbara for sharing the story of her journey
You looks soo young
I live in Germany and you’re not embarrassed here because of your poor language e.t.c. Germans just speak to you not noticing at all that it’s not your native language. So you’re literally can’t be embarrased, but I’m not sure it makes you feel better 😅
I definitely think she has an Italian imprint mainly in word stress ( e.g the pronunciation of accent, honest)and her 'a's.Wonderful accent.
When i study English my teacher told that its not important to try to use each of accsent by perpous but on my own practice i used to say that its more impotant to understand all language by ears cos not everywhere subtaitls are avaluable and you can be the great in texts you totally without earsight when it comes to converation with foreune cos And what the need to learn English if you cant speak with people
I m totally disagree that English is a privelige cos when i stadied et shool it already was part of a program that you need to know and no mater where you ll go after it you ll need to know how to work on foreiun language cos it already was the part of univercity program I also want to say that when you speak English it totally different world About the accent i dont know maybe BBC is more priveledge than CNN But for English speaker of corse you want to know all and for me personal its imposible to understand American acsent in films tv shows and news Thought i can anderstand you clealt but when i watch there i feel axostaed after it and dont know how to serve this problem Sorry to interapt you again
I can understand clear but one word jackstoposition what does it mean,?
Sorry in video your gest said it difficult to understand speech I can understand her clealy but i coudnt undestand for instance USA speech how it is posible and what to do,?

Italians are da rk people. When they massively arrive to US, at beginning of century 20. Anglo American, called "bla cks" to imm igrants Italians. I never has understood the problem that the pir ates have with the da rk sk in.
Thank you for this interesting episode.!
She said often with T ..it’s good?
Thank you Luke, thank you Barbara.
Good.
Beautiful woman!
For those complaining they can't understand what she is saying: she is one hundred percent clear. Her speech pattern isn't British, though. It is a latin speech pattern.
She is great
I'm italian Luk. In her speech i heard a lot italian accent. 😊
I love the idea and perspective of Barbara giving about the accent. When she emphasise that clarity is no compromise, it’s such a good point.

Hello,
is there anyone interested to become my language partner and begin the journey of learning English together?
It was werry nice 😊 dankeschön ❤
Thank you for this incredible episode 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for your archive!! It’s very convenient for new learners.
Let it Be is out ! 🎉❤
I was amazed by Ms. Sierra's articulate speech. I'm one of those who're working on improvement of English pronunciation. I always say I don't need to erase the trace of my heritage, but I want to sound confident and clear when speaking English. It was reassuring to hear a successful professional like her supporting this idea!🥰
Anyway your accent sounds familiar😊
Barbara are you Sardinian? Serra is Sardinian surname 😅
Sir please try to change your background.
Hello Luke. Thanks for this episode. It's really amusing how she manages to overcome those difficulties although she is a native speaker.
I hope you and your family have a great day ahead. ❤❤
So cool! Thank you soo much for this episode!
She sounds like an american speaker ….
Great Barbara, you’re amazing and admirable!
I loved the episode, and Luke, you're my favorite English speaker. Also, I admire very much the Italian people. Once they were on the forefront of the mankind.
