I worked as a probation officer with DAC for 12 years and made the decision to move on about 2 years ago. I missed the job and I missed helping people at their lowest and seeing them accomplish something. Some of these individuals never had anyone believe in them so just the smallest thing could make a huge impact. I returned after 8 months because of how much I missed it, sadly 3 months later I realized that no matter how much my heart was in the right place those higher up would never see eye to eye. If I attempted to violate an individual who absolutely showed zero potential I was met with no assistance from the court. There is a lot of discretion in those positions but there are also laws and sentencing charts that must be followed. I miss my job as a PPO to this day but i honestly felt like a hamster on a wheel, constantly trying but never getting anywhere.
