  1. I am glad to see that there is new construction going on. The Secondary School, where I used to teach, looks good. At that time it was run by Irish Catholic priests. You call it Bonthe Island, but I think the real name is Sherbro Island. (Maybe it has changed.) In Bonthe, the people were Mende, but in the island villages I believe they were Sherbro. Sam Margai, brother of the Prime Minister, was a local businessman. Paterson Zochonis was a big trading company, and Standard Bank had a branch there. There were many Lebanese traders too. They used to ship out tons of piassava, natural brush fiber, from the port of Bonthe. Sherbro piassava was highly prized. But the port silted up, the ships couldn't come in, and the trade died off. Thank you for this Vlog.

  2. When I was working for the Special Court I did stay in 2002 for 3 months in Bonthe. We had to grade up the Prison to International standards. It was a difficult time because there was no electricity and the food was limited. But it was still a nice place with great people and I made many friends. It is nice to see how things are developed. Thanks for the video it brings many memories back.

  3. This has been a trip back in my past. So sad to see how things are falling apart. I lived at 13 Medina st up till 1978. Went to St Patrick's and B.S.S. I wish you showed along Medina st. Thank you so much.

  4. Thanks for this interesting Tour and and to see all the Historic buildings is encouraging and lovely. You did a great job at exploring the traditional food and wine there that will make anybody want to come visit. Thanks again and Be Blessed!
