Edo State: Philip Shaibu Did Not Play His Cards Well – Braimah | Oshoma

You don’t go into a battle you know you’ll lose, that is not strategic. Deputy governors in Nigeria are like endangered species. Shaibu should have been loyal, he misfired in his ambition to be governor

  1. The clause in the opinion of members of state assembly in Nigeria to define gross misconduct are detrimental to our country because over time we have observed that members of States and national assembly assembly are rubber stamp of the president and governors , they serve as stooges to the governors.

  2. my take on this issue, Obaseki is treading on dangerous and uncertain course. Recall how he humiliated Tinubu to clinch reelection in 2020 and if history tells us anything Tinubu doesnt forgive those who seek to embarrass him. He has executive and federal might as president. Add that to the already vicious Oshiomole who's waiting in the shadow for unleash terror in collaboration with an aggreived Shuaibu and a host of thugs in benin who are at the bidding of these individuals. It will be interesting to see how all these play out esp cos Obaseki is not a politician who really hasnt done well to guarantee the support of the electorate for his party , same with Ighodalo who is also not tested as a politician.

  3. Even though if the Deputy is protected all of them should learn how to be behave well in the office at all times to respect themselves and respect the governors which is their boss.

  4. Some of the comments here are hilarious. Why is a deputy governor’s interest in becoming the governor seen as a greedy man’s interest. Why not create a level playing field for the Edo people to choose who they want. Obaseki is imposing his candidate and nobody is seeing the wrong in that regard. Nigeria can’t really grow with all these shallow mentality

  5. Shaibu took Obaseki's quite dominion for granted, and he deserves what he got.
A preemptive court case, a parallel convention, etc.
You have ambition, but don't force your boss to support you.

  6. The conduct of the recalcitrant former deputy governor of Edo State, Phillips Shuaibu, embodies elements of both greed and foolishness. His unwavering quest for power, coupled with his blatant disregard for party protocols, underscores a sense of greed, wherein he placed his personal ambition above the welfare of the party and the state. Moreover, his rejection of the party's decision and resort to blackmail tactics reveal a dearth of foresight and strategic acumen, indicative of foolishness. Collectively, his actions epitomize a blend of self-serving ambition and flawed judgment.~ Prince K.D

  7. How come deputy governors are almost always not suitable to be governor after their principals in Nigeria? How many deputy governors have gone on to become governors?

I am even shocked that these gentlemen seem to imply that a deputy governor should be nothing but whatever the governor wants. Most deputy governors are not lightweight politicians. How can you just say that such a perspn should expire to nothing other than what the governor wants?

We have a long way to go in Nigeria. Our problem is that we have emperors from local government chairmen all the way to the President.

The governor is free to back another person. But you dont have to orchestrate ab illegal impeachment just to settle egotistical scores. If he wants to contest and you feel strongly, reason with him. If he insists, allow him to test his popularity and you yourself showcase your popularity constitutionally for your preferred candidate..

  8. All i see in this issue is greediness for God sake you are a deputy governor but befor then you are a formal house of assembly member again formal house of rep and not as if he has done well for his people oooo you still want to be a governor is government house your birthright ….abeg lets forget about Philip Shaibu am happy he has given chance to my brother as the nest deputy😂😂

  9. Shaibu, enjoy the reward of conspiracy! Think deep about your past and you will understand why your impeachment and other humiliations were inevitable. Little for the wise

  10. Governor obaseki really tried for Shaibu but he's too arrogant and lack wisdom. He even insulted his boss many times on TV just the way he insulted his own father Oshiomole. He's childish
