Political systems depend on legitimacy. In America, that legitimacy is failing.
In an earlier version of this video, we incorrectly reported the population of New York. The state’s population in 2017 was 19.85 million people.

America's version of democracy is like that of the Borg from Star Trek.
"We are the Borg, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated, you will become democratic"…
Very left-leaning presentation. Ignores WHY the Constitution says what it does.
The Electoral College that our Founding Fathers wanted and established had to be changed because it might not have worked properly at the first Election. Personally, my choice of a career would be the Military where I was expected to be in the Chain of Command and relate to "orders". The Electoral College system assumed that men would run independently for President and the man who polled Second would become Vice President as an independent. Instead men ran at "teams". I've had no problem whatsoever accepting I am not a Billionaire and recognizing that nobody cares about my opinion on Politics. I was on the phone with a company a few years ago and the sales rep literally consulted his computer a few minutes and came back to tell me I was not an important person and I put up with that harassment without complaint as well. Of course, there are people who say and who claim that poor people should rise up, somehow, and protect and defend themselves and even though that sounds radical I don't believe that the average citizen doing what he has to do to thrive and develop is wrong. If America is going to force me into poverty if I attempt to participate in politics then I will stay away from politics. I don't see this as a "problem" at all.
You now know the problem. You are young and intelligent and you should try to find out the path and methods to solve it, otherwise it's people who face the outcomes all together. Use your wisdom, face is not so much when life destiny is coming forth towards you.
"We must move…"
Somewhere, distantly underwater
"Let's take Bikini Bottom, and PUSH it somewhere else!"
America is a Constitutional Republic!
You think that is the problem?? I have a news flash for you. USA has never been a democracy.
Come to India, each member represents atleast 2 million people
We need actual democracy
The problem is we the people do not hold ourselves and our leaders accountable to us and our needs. We must first start holding ourselves accountable and responsible then our leads. Wake up people democracy is hard hard work.
One of the better videos on YouTube, well done.
Democracy is a problem. It's how you get Venezuelan decline. We're a representative republic dude.
Everyone should read The Dangers of Democracy by J. S. Mackenzie 😮
America is a REPUBLIC! People should look around locally and see that DEMOCRACY hasn’t worked for 60 years now!!! There are MAJOR cities in America that have so much crime and it gets worse and worse every year!!! The VOTERS/ CITIZENS do not value their democracy that’s provided to them at all. They trash and destroy their own cities then blame Republicans that won’t clean up their mess! How is that fair? Take care of your community to avoid having to beg government to clean up your mess!! When will these “democracy” leaders hold their voters accountable and tell them to stop tearing up their “democracy”???? 👀👀👀

Ranked choice voting would give third parties and independents a shot at winning.
And that's exactly why both sides hate it.
This all comes back to the idea that America IS NOT a democracy and was never supposed to be one. America has always been a constitutional republic and people pretend America is a democracy, so of course you can find flaws in American democracy because it isn't one.
We aren’t a democracy.
The USA is not a democracy and never was or will be.
How is it a democracy with no cap on lobbying? Sounds more like a rigged oligarchy to me
The real issue is safety voting. We really need APPROVAL voting. Then the candidate would result in the most Americans feeling represented, thereby balancing polirics into a natural perfect medium.
What our countries problem is, is a huge flow of money from outside our country, buying our Govenment officials for their good not Americas intrest. And America use to be unified by Biblical princaple and order. Now so many are imoral, lawless, unrespectful, Godless. Waiting for a superman to lead them. The bible calls him, the man of sin, to save the world !!
I know this is Vox and they are really showing which side they favor, but honestly both sides have been doing power grabs for a long time now. It always annoys me when the argument is "it was your side that did the bad thing!" when there is plenty of evidence showing both sides are corrupt.
The problem with American democracy is that it's not even a democracy to begin with
The founding fathers wanted an elitist democracy, not a representative democracy!!!
