"Hakuna matata" is not from a movie, it is a simple Bantu expression. You from South Africa surely understand some Sotho, and the form of this expression should therefore be straightforward. "Hakuna" is the same as "Akuna" in Sotho meaning "There is no..". "Matata" is a word meaning "issues", but you could easily replace it with "ndaba" from Nguni languages or "thaba" from siSotho. I am from Zambia, and I was born speaking siLozi which is a recent derivative of Sotho; at the same time the Ngoni in Malawi and Eastern Province of Zambia still use some words from the Zulu language that Zwangendaba brought with him when he invaded the area around 1835-1840… Ironically, Lozi derived from Sotho because the ba Sotho and under Sebetwane were invading the other end of Zambia around 1840, all these groups were fleeing the Mfecane… There you go.
