Okay, so imagine talking about the Byzantine Empire without diving into all that Greek stuff. Basically, the main language in the Western Empire was Greek, and a bunch of the big-shot emperors were Greek too. Now, I'm not trying to ignore the Roman vibes here—they were definitely there. But let's be real, the Romans kinda of borrowed a ton from classic Greek culture and philosophy.
I am sorry but it's a bit inaccurate your approach.
Fun Fact:
Constantine I (Constantine the Great) – Reign: 306–337 AD
Theodosius I (Theodosius the Great) – Reign: 379–395 AD
Justinian I (Justinian the Great) – Reign: 527–565 AD
Heraclius – Reign: 610–641 AD
Leo III (Leo the Isaurian) – Reign: 717–741 AD
Basil I (Basil the Macedonian) – Reign: 867–886 AD
Leo VI (Leo the Wise) – Reign: 886–912 AD
Constantine VII (Constantine Porphyrogenitos) – Reign: 913–959 AD
Alexios I Komninos – Reign: 1081–1118 AD
Manuel I Komninos – Reign: 1143–1180 AD
Best of luck next time!
Thank you pointing out the Eastern Empie was ROMAN, not this weird Byzantine name retcon.
Unfortunately, you are plagiarizing the Gregorian calender
0:25 Not really. Rome remained unified until 395. When Emperor Theodosius I died, the empire was split into two halves, the Western and the Eastern. The eastern half is what survived and became known as Byzantine.
:/

The Byzantine Empire and the Roman Empire were one and the same. 🇮🇹🤝🇬🇷
A cartoon. Lazy.
Hold on. You’re saying that they made clockwork gizmos around the 9th century? That’s amazing.

"Sung"? Hmm, speaking of the fall of an empire.
Rome was so powerful that it had to fall twice to accelerate the advancement of humanity.
Really sad it fell
You mispronounced AD. It's not C E
Fun fact: my ancestors were the Byzantines and my family has a coat of arms from that era
– Why Byzantines?
– Named after the capital which was Byzantium (=Constantinople)
– Language – religion?
– Greek – Orthodox
– So it was a Greek christian empire named after their capital.
– Exactly. Imagine Greece called Athenian Empire right now.
I’ve got a test on this in like an hour thank you TED-Ed
When I was little, Constantinople meant Dr. Seuss’s ‘hop on pop’ to me
