Interestingly, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah finally won an Emmy when
1) the main host left and abandoned the show without a proper host successor
2) when it was the weakest of all Late Night talk shows
That the state of its franchise and place in television is so dire, the predecessor have to come back and host it again, in a very unprecedented way.
And now all the correspondents are being increasingly competitive to each other, increasingly being ignored to be considered as the new host. You can sense that vibe from the team on they first two shows. And now the old guy that left gets to come back at the show instead of starting fresh with a new chapter.
It's absurd and I'm yet to love it again, the same way I loved The Daily Show at Jon Stewart's and Trevor Noah's heyday.
This comeback of Jon Stewart is a much shaky foundation to bet the future of this program on and a bandaid solution to their real problem. Being afraid to innovate.

Trevor and the whole entire crew kept us going during our first 2 years of the pandemic, quarantine life, and brought us into our new rebirth and new fresh life now in a post Covid world. I think it's so weird that the Emmys invited the casts of shows they never nominated which deserved it to present at the show. That doesn't feel like honoring them at all.
One of the funny people on earth accepting a much overdue award for his last year on the job, and his speech was… rushed? Dude, Television Academy, if you want people to watch your awards show, how about you give some of the most charismatic people on earth some time to shine and entertain in the very rare moments they actually win something??
