Something I think isn't emphasized enough in analysis of the upcoming US election is the legislative elections.
The house looks to be up in the air with maybe a lead for the dems, but the senate is stacking up to be a knock down drag out fight, because the republicans have made it abundantly clear at this point that the dems will need to kill the filibuster to get anything done, and with the idea losing it's shock factor among establishment dems, the republicans are basically starting to realize they challenged the dems to win enough seats so that even defectors won't be enough to prevent a vice presidential tiebreaker in favor. It'd have been an uphill battle already since the Senate is an inherently right leaning institution due to how it's elected, but now the Republicans are gonna be fighting tooth and nail to hold on to as much power as they can there so that the Manchins and Sinema's of the democratic party can't be outvoted.
