My best friend (an excellent cook) made steak for me last night (med rare w/balsamic mushroom sauce). He also reminded me that, a few years ago, I promised to make him steak au poivre. He’s still waiting. Of course yours was the first recipe I looked at.
I've made steak au poivre which I love, but I've never added dijon to the sauce! I'll have to try that.

Wow! This is so easy and decadent. I paired with Caeser salad and home fries. I did baste the filet mignon in butter and thyme after turning and added minced shallots and garlic to the pan sauce. This is wonderful.

You can add brandy straight to the cream n mustard too, deglaze it!! Chantelle n you can even take to a steak Oscar n add crab to the sauce fer fun.

Nice one, how do you make sure the steak is still warm when you eat it?
Steaks should go in a 180 ° oven for 8-10 minutes while preparing the sauce ,otherwise they will be cold and not cooked through .
