I stretch my hair with marcel wax and banding my hair and wearing my hijab. I have waist length 4c hair. I wash my hair every 3 months. I don’t manipulate my hair while washing I let the shampoo sit on my hair and then I rinse and I apply again (only twice) let it sit once more, rinse and then apply deep conditioner. I don’t get tangles during wash day anymore after doing this method. This method I came up with because I was sick at the time but I stayed doing this after seeing how it’s more effective at cleansing and no tangles 😂

In the winter, you have to use heat to save your hair til the summer, wash and gos in the winter destroyed my hair. I had to learn how to use heat all over again but in hot climates I can’t use heat my hair craves water

And also ALL of our hair is different, black people are the only race of people whether continental(African) , Native American, from islands , etc.; we are the only people who literally have every single hair type in our DNA, possible, including color. Every single hair type comes from us do it’s never one size fits all but heat definitely has helped my hair living in New York. It was coming out bad.

I’ve had to do this when I moved to New York, when I lived in North Carolina I couldn’t use heat but when in colder climates I had to switch to heat over time.

Hey girl! It's nice crossing paths with another natural hair sister. It's been a year and 8 months for me since I did my big chop of going natural. Learned my hair texture. Stopped using wigs and extensions since 12/25/2022. I've learned that our natural hair requires patience from us especially if your not used to it embracing it. I am big on protective styling though it gives me a break from always having my hands in my hair and allowing it to grow longer. Thanks for the tips though! I will try it out!

yea duh. lol. Thats why its done all over africa.. before electricity even existed lol. Clearly they understood that stretching out the coils actually improves maintenance and so overall long term health. Cant spread oil, check for damage, or even style is easily if the hair isnt stretched. As mine is a 4c, TWA after cutting off my sister locs to start over, I have chosen to texturize it while its very short, and when its gets to about 4 to 5 inches I'll stop and begin stretching regularly…or ill just keep texturing 3 times a year lol. These new texturizers are bomb..because back in 2009.. they were horrible lol. These new ones actually dont lok like you did anything to your hair…until you want to straighten it. Thats when you'll know the work the texturizer is doing to keep it straight longer.

Stretched hair is the best. It shows off our length.

I also have a long, oval face and have always loved BIG HAIR. I’ve been a curly natural and gave up relaxers in the late 90’s long before it was even the trend. Now, though, I’m kinda tired of wearing my natural 3C curls. I’m definitely bored. I took a break from curls and started blow drying and curling for several months, but when I wanted to return to wearing my curls, they were on strike and rebelled—just refused to cooperate! It took a few bonding treatments to get them back, but I’m bored again. I know I don’t want to blow dry and use a curling iron again. Your video really resonated with me. I’ve tried rod setting twice now. It’s cute, but still not “it,” you know?

Thank you very much, I can relate. I get single strand knots. I will maybe try straight natural like you. My hair is super thick unless I put henna on it.

This has been a thing way before natural hair became big on YouTube. What took you so long to try it out? Nevermind, I guess I'll just watch the entire video.😂

I do not understand Black women's obsession with fake hair, especially the hair of races of women who hate Blacks. Never could, never will. The only conclusion that I have come to is that many Black women simply hate their own natural hair texture and length.

The bottom line is that everyone needs to discover the best products for their specific hair type to make it easier to manage, care for, and retain length. Black women have beautiful thick hair but need to learn how to care for it properly to promote the health and growth of the hair.

Great Video ❤ I been a straight natural for 4 years and people always ask me how did I get my hair so long? when I wear my natural coily hair it’s hard to see my true length. Will always be a straight natural easy to manage especially with 3 daughters!
