Great video. I can speak from experience on the Technology Support Specialist role. I don't have a bachelor's degree and currently make $87k a year as an L3 Tech Support Specialist. I have an associate's degree in Automotive Repair, specifically Collision and Refinishing.
My story: After automotive tech school, I worked ten years in various body shops repairing cars. I then took a role as a Level 1 call taker at a help desk where all I did was answer phone calls from customers then create a support ticket and queue it in certain queues depending on which of our company's products was giving the customer issues. I noticed that the Level 2 Product Support Specialists were always overwhelmed with work and their queue would always be full so when we had slow call periods I would ask them if there was anything I could help with and they were always ecstatic to show me how to fix the easier issues. I began taking the easier issues from their queue, with their and my manager's permission, and completing the repairs. Eventually I learned how to repair about 80% of the issues that our products experienced so I was offers a Level 2 promotion which I of course took because I was already doing the work. I further focused myself on how to complete even more repairs and create scripts to do the repairs faster. Eventually I was offered a level 3 position which has me installing and supporting new untested products and new software.
You'd be surprised how far you can get by just applying yourself a little bit more than everyone else. You don't even need to overwork yourself, just always be looking for ways to help your co-workers and the company and you'll go very far.
Good topic.. just a question. Is there any remote hiring internationally. Thanks 🙏
