300 – The Last Battles in Europe – WW2 – May 25, 1945

This week, the fighting in Europe finally comes to an end and the Allies round up more leading Nazis including Heinrich Himmler and Karl Doenitz. In Asia, the fighting continues on Okinawa even as the Japanese start pulling back. The Australians continue fighting on Tarakan, and the Chinese are victorious in western Hunan.

  1. Hi Indy
    Another wonderful episode.
300 weeks passed. Seems like it was yesterday I saw your first episode. Time flew so fast also Iearned about this war. Hats off to your resilience in completing this series.

  2. If you get on the midnight train to Georgia from the Netherlands, (I’m assuming you’ll need to switch trains partway to account for different rail gauges), best case scenario, you end up in gulag. Not even canned peaches for you there (I assume).

  3. 13 episodes (give or take left)! It's been a paradoxically enthralling and draining series- not in a bad way. The pathos with which the time ghost team is able convey information about events from the last century is a testament to not only their talents as content creators, but as custodians to history. Absolutely love the work from you guys.

  4. Fun fact in Bosnian letter dz is not pronounced separate but together and it best represents how to say it if you spell it like Odjak

  5. Imperial Japan: Marianas gone, Peleliu gone, New Guinea gone, Philippines gone, Burma gone, Iwo Jima gone, now Okinawa , Navy finished, Firebombings , Starvation , Only Axis power left and Leaders still want an honorable end on peace terms, could this get any worse?!

United States: Winning every battles, always maintaining the upper hand at all times, bringing literally everything(Navy, Army, Airforce, Flags, Secret weapons) in the table to finish the war.

Soviet Union: Hope we're not too late in the party.

Me: This is a wild ride of 300 weeks of war indeed and now Japan is the only Axis left. Siege in Japan plus Operation Starvation and Foreshadowing Soviet invasion of Manchuria , The Kurile Islands and the bomb(s) to end it all (Spoilers). Awwww and I was hoping there would be action in the Philippines showing the battles in Mindanao especially the US 24th and 31st infantry divisions VS IJA 30th and 100th divisions particularly the Battle of Davao.

Once again, thank you Indie and team for explaining the many situations, battles and/or developments that happened and/or were rarely mentioned and/or were forgotten and never heard of and are now coming to light. Never Forget indeed.

  6. Extremely possible that the ''guy''who killed himself posing as Himmler was a double ? The British had a an agreement in place for Heinrich ,by turning over ''valuable information in lieu of the impending Cold War coming to a future very soon ,kind of arranged their own scenario to go along with the ''stagecraft''? and just put closure to the Reichsfuhrer 's life. Read the ''Strange Death of Himmler ''a few years ago ,by a noted author ,who researched the whole ''caper within a caper'' Seems very likely that Himmler was not the "'South American ''type ? and Scandonavia would be a better refuge or ''new identity placement ''He being a Farmer in his past would bee more of the Nordic type ,looking for greener pastures .The Author eluded that he may have ended up in rural or northern Sweden ? I guess the MI6 agency and other Intelligence was at most mostly concerned to get onto the Next Project with their fight with the KGB . Himmler was passe'' Though we as the Hoi Polloi heard what the Governments wanted us to know ..Official Story ..He is Dead!. i never put much credence into the ''Official Story '' .The double guy was found out that he was not Himmler through Dental work ,so there was a lot of Information with numerous sources ,more than the Allies after 50 years to come to this conclusion . i Guess Heinrich probably enjoyed the Swedish farmlands .

  7. I feel like most people here have probably seen it but The Pacific does an incredible job at displaying the horrors of the battle of Okinawa. I highly recommend it to anyone interested that hasn't seen it. Be forewarned there are some rough scenes.

  8. I've always wondered what it was Donitz and his "government" were doing in Flensberg after the surrender. You say they were meeting. Meeting to discuss what? Did they actually have some ide they were going to be allowed to continue administering post war Germany?
