The argument on presidential pardon being remission is weak, perhaps the big question is does/should the IEC have the power to invoke a section of the constitution and bar a candidate from contesting elections? I don't think that should be the IECs place, perhaps a higher structure should reserve the right to ban a person from being a "law maker" in the national assembly but no one should be banned from contesting elections based on such invocation by the IEC.
