I play off 8 with off the shelf Taylor made's. Personally i think these custom fittings are ridiculously over priced and definitely not a must to improve your golf.
I randomly tried out this putter in the shop today cause I remembered it's the one you're using at the moment, though it wasn't the PLD version. I was amazed. I kept holing them one after another from different distances. Never had an experience like that with a putter before. Now if only I could read a green to save my life.
Well done Rick for being honest and impartial.
For £2000 I'd want it to wake me up with a cup of tea and drive me to work. Ping obviously only trying to cherry pick rich kids. Honestly what a load of old cobblers. Ping you need to do a lot better. Loughborough University must be working more on economics than elite performance !!!
You can get the same shit for $35 on marketplace. Its just a chunk of metal, theres nothing special about a putter lmao. Dude got suckered for $2k and posts about it online.
Did you tell them you want your putter to sound like an Apple iMessage notification when you hit it?
King cobra SS.1 3 to 55 wedge
Taylor made R5 duel extra stiff shaft
Taylor made TI R7 5 wood stiff shaft
PING isopure VSLi black dot ⚫️ putter
Play off 4.3 handicap
Iv just changed to jumbo grips on the woods and super stroke on the putter and I know my handicap is gonna go down another shot
£70 total
I still hit the driver 270 yards and accurate each time
It’s me that is the difference with been a amateur not the equipment
I will say, while thats a huge expense, I do really enjoy the sound
I wish you would have said your specs. Like loft, lie, head weight, etc.
Pings blacked out putters are easily the best looking putters on the market. However, the rust is unacceptable if they didn't warn and provide care instructions.
Played ok in that wind 😊
If you leave a wet putter or club in its wet cover duh, you get rust, don't blame the manufacturer for your laziness, you even admit you dont clean your clubs.
Well, agree the experience wasn't that great…. BUT, the blacked out putter is absolutely gorgeous and Rick is putting unreal with it!! Probably should have paid double!
I once tried a ping PLD, same model actually, ended up holing pretty much all the first 5-10 putts and was almost sold. While the feel is great, the price was just outrageous
Rick, the putter is actually £360 +£200 fitting is £560 and that RS etching cost £1440. 😂😂😂😂
The sound that putter made is horrendous. Sorry.
I'm actually starting to regret my affiliation with Ping. They have a great history and some awesome clubs, but lately between the absurd prices of their products and the rapid fire releases of "successor" clubs within the same year has kind of soured my opinion of them.
Sounds awful 🥴
That putter looks like all the putters they sell .
To be fair though, 200 bucks for an hour is not crazy, and for that price, I wouldn't expect to be wired up to a monitor. 100 bucks is likely more reasonable for a standard fitting (loft, lie, length, shaft). However, unless Ping mill this putter to Rick's specs from a solid billet, 1800 bucks for a putter with a logo etched on the bottom is OUTRAGEOUS! I think golf companies realize there is a niche 'custom' market for those who want exclusivity (LA Golf and PXG are two that come to mind), so this is just another way to bilk those customers.
You buy an £1800 putter after the fitting the £200 fitting fee should not be charged
I'll give you 2 weeks, maybe 3 for the honeymoon period. Then reality will set in, and we'll discover it isn't the arrow, it's the Indian. LOL
And I always love your honest reviews ! So keep it up !
I really love that video you made like 2 years ago about Callaways club set from Costco that was 500 bucks and you compare to a mavirick drive which is just as much as the club set just for the driver and questioning how do they get the prices of some of there clubs
No putter is worth that much golf equipment is so expensive and a lot of Time for no reason as some one who’s been playing the sport for like 7 years now and still have a second hand set that I put together and is crazy I wish I could get some clubs fitted for me but is just so expensive so I make my old r7 and rbz driver work I could probably play better with something made for me since I’m 6’1 and stuff but I make do with what I have but took me some time to get into the sport cause is just so expensive even a cheap starter set is like 500 bucks and honestly some of the clubs they sell is just crazy in price and I just don’t see the cost but I feel like if we had better equipment and cheaper price we could see more people getting into the sport
PING is getting an absolute KICKING here. Well deserved but… still. Yikes Ricky.
I did the US PLD Custom fitting and I would say for $1,500 it was well worth the experience. We spent time indoors picking which putters might work best, then transitioned to outside to get a real world feel. Then we went to the Ping Vault which was really awesome to see. All in it was about 2.5 hours and a priceless memory touring their HQ. It’s a shame the UK version costs almost $1,000 more and is an overall worse experience.
The acoustics/sound off the face is so nice
Your putter can be £5 or £5000 the putter is only as good as the person using it 😉
And you were given guidance from Brad Faxton 😮
2,000 quid for a rusty putter after only a couple of games !! Hmmmm…..if that was mine, the PING guy would be wearing it as a suppository by now.
My 10 year old Ping Scottsdale doesn’t even look that bad after being played in multiple rainy rounds…that’s pretty disappointing quality control @PING…
I’d be getting a fucking refund 😂
Paint that etched RS logo, or it will rust
I have an off the shelf black PLD putter, over 50 rounds later and mine hasn't rusted like this :/
Hi Rick. Did you pay the 2k out of your own pocket for it? They put R/S on it without you asking?
1000 tops kinda let down on PLD experience
Awesome! we are a golf club manufacturing factory with expertise and quality assurance, you can consider us as your alternate supplier.we have OEM and ODM
Something which I will admit triggers me about this isn’t ricks review because it’s great. It’s the golf industry as a whole. The last 5 years especially, golf has been on a meteoric rise in popularity which is great. But the biggest draw back are the price points. Whether it’s equipment, courses, custom fittings, experiences, events. Now I understand you factor in demand and also things like inflation. But what I find ironic is the bs notion that golf is being more ‘inclusive’. The stupidity of such services like this is causing a trickle effect amongst the industry as a whole. For people who’ve played the game for a while it’s something which we have to come to terms with and navigate. But I do feel sorry for newcomers who have to navigate this unnecessary minefield. I hope that the industry will see this and be more responsible for the future to make it sustainable.
Rick, why don't you do a Collab with the guys from Club Champion? Would love to see you then do a fit for you.
I would like to see it compared to all the off-the-shelf options, like did they just mix and match what they currently offer, or is any of it really custom?
Imagine finding out its basically a mishmash of 2 different $300 putters with $25 worth of laser engraving.
He gonna swap it out next season, wanna bet?..
So essentially he payed £2000 to remain the same.
How much was the putter fitting? You didn’t mention the cost
PING out here stealing money. That putter should never rust 😤
For $2k that putter better be made in the fires of Mt. Doom and hand delivered by Frodo on a unicorn.
It’s a putter dude what did you expect….if you think you got ripped off ……..you did 🤪🤪🤪
I have a matt black ping putter (heppler tyne 3) and it has been played in the wet … still completely fine. They really messed up here. The PR blowback of giving the most subscribed YouTuber a dud club when pushing an incredibly expensive service. Someone had a really bad day at the office! Big ping fan so hope they rectify this. I’m still gaming my i15 irons and they look as good as new.
If my $99 Odyssey putter (it’s 5-6 years old and still looks like new) had rusted like that, I would be furious, and returning it immediately for a new one
But $2,000 and you get that!!!
Hope you kept your receipt, Rick. If it were me, and it never will be, that would back in the box and heading back to Loughborough. Shocking. Have they no idea how many people watch your channel?
Oh wait, April fool 🤦
