  1. I randomly tried out this putter in the shop today cause I remembered it's the one you're using at the moment, though it wasn't the PLD version. I was amazed. I kept holing them one after another from different distances. Never had an experience like that with a putter before. Now if only I could read a green to save my life.

  2. For £2000 I'd want it to wake me up with a cup of tea and drive me to work. Ping obviously only trying to cherry pick rich kids. Honestly what a load of old cobblers. Ping you need to do a lot better. Loughborough University must be working more on economics than elite performance !!!

  3. You can get the same shit for $35 on marketplace. Its just a chunk of metal, theres nothing special about a putter lmao. Dude got suckered for $2k and posts about it online.

  4. King cobra SS.1 3 to 55 wedge
Taylor made R5 duel extra stiff shaft
Taylor made TI R7 5 wood stiff shaft
PING isopure VSLi black dot ⚫️ putter

    Play off 4.3 handicap
Iv just changed to jumbo grips on the woods and super stroke on the putter and I know my handicap is gonna go down another shot
    £70 total
I still hit the driver 270 yards and accurate each time

It’s me that is the difference with been a amateur not the equipment

  5. I wish you would have said your specs. Like loft, lie, head weight, etc.
Pings blacked out putters are easily the best looking putters on the market. However, the rust is unacceptable if they didn't warn and provide care instructions.

  6. Well, agree the experience wasn't that great…. BUT, the blacked out putter is absolutely gorgeous and Rick is putting unreal with it!! Probably should have paid double!

  7. I once tried a ping PLD, same model actually, ended up holing pretty much all the first 5-10 putts and was almost sold. While the feel is great, the price was just outrageous

  8. Rick, the putter is actually £360 +£200 fitting is £560 and that RS etching cost £1440. 😂😂😂😂
The sound that putter made is horrendous. Sorry.

  9. I'm actually starting to regret my affiliation with Ping. They have a great history and some awesome clubs, but lately between the absurd prices of their products and the rapid fire releases of "successor" clubs within the same year has kind of soured my opinion of them.

  10. To be fair though, 200 bucks for an hour is not crazy, and for that price, I wouldn't expect to be wired up to a monitor. 100 bucks is likely more reasonable for a standard fitting (loft, lie, length, shaft). However, unless Ping mill this putter to Rick's specs from a solid billet, 1800 bucks for a putter with a logo etched on the bottom is OUTRAGEOUS! I think golf companies realize there is a niche 'custom' market for those who want exclusivity (LA Golf and PXG are two that come to mind), so this is just another way to bilk those customers.

  11. I really love that video you made like 2 years ago about Callaways club set from Costco that was 500 bucks and you compare to a mavirick drive which is just as much as the club set just for the driver and questioning how do they get the prices of some of there clubs

  12. No putter is worth that much golf equipment is so expensive and a lot of Time for no reason as some one who’s been playing the sport for like 7 years now and still have a second hand set that I put together and is crazy I wish I could get some clubs fitted for me but is just so expensive so I make my old r7 and rbz driver work I could probably play better with something made for me since I’m 6’1 and stuff but I make do with what I have but took me some time to get into the sport cause is just so expensive even a cheap starter set is like 500 bucks and honestly some of the clubs they sell is just crazy in price and I just don’t see the cost but I feel like if we had better equipment and cheaper price we could see more people getting into the sport

  13. I did the US PLD Custom fitting and I would say for $1,500 it was well worth the experience. We spent time indoors picking which putters might work best, then transitioned to outside to get a real world feel. Then we went to the Ping Vault which was really awesome to see. All in it was about 2.5 hours and a priceless memory touring their HQ. It’s a shame the UK version costs almost $1,000 more and is an overall worse experience.

  14. Something which I will admit triggers me about this isn’t ricks review because it’s great. It’s the golf industry as a whole. The last 5 years especially, golf has been on a meteoric rise in popularity which is great. But the biggest draw back are the price points. Whether it’s equipment, courses, custom fittings, experiences, events. Now I understand you factor in demand and also things like inflation. But what I find ironic is the bs notion that golf is being more ‘inclusive’. The stupidity of such services like this is causing a trickle effect amongst the industry as a whole. For people who’ve played the game for a while it’s something which we have to come to terms with and navigate. But I do feel sorry for newcomers who have to navigate this unnecessary minefield. I hope that the industry will see this and be more responsible for the future to make it sustainable.

  15. I would like to see it compared to all the off-the-shelf options, like did they just mix and match what they currently offer, or is any of it really custom?

Imagine finding out its basically a mishmash of 2 different $300 putters with $25 worth of laser engraving.

  16. I have a matt black ping putter (heppler tyne 3) and it has been played in the wet … still completely fine. They really messed up here. The PR blowback of giving the most subscribed YouTuber a dud club when pushing an incredibly expensive service. Someone had a really bad day at the office! Big ping fan so hope they rectify this. I’m still gaming my i15 irons and they look as good as new.

  17. If my $99 Odyssey putter (it’s 5-6 years old and still looks like new) had rusted like that, I would be furious, and returning it immediately for a new one

But $2,000 and you get that!!!

  18. Hope you kept your receipt, Rick. If it were me, and it never will be, that would back in the box and heading back to Loughborough. Shocking. Have they no idea how many people watch your channel?
    Oh wait, April fool 🤦
