  1. Not really a city, but Wittenoom township in the Pilbara region of far north Western Australia should have had a place on this list. It has been officially removed by the West Australian government a decade ago. It has a deadly and sinister history that is still killing people long after the obliteration of the town site. Google it.

    Google:
Approximately 13,000 non-workers resided in the Wittenoom township i.e. women and children (7000 were children either born in Wittenoom or they arrived with their parents). To date more than 2000 of the workers and residents of Wittenoom have died from Asbestos Diseases. The Australian government began closing the entire town by the late 1970s because of potential health concerns. In 2007, after Wittenoom was officially removed from all maps and road signs, people were discouraged from visiting the area. The Wittenoom Closure Bill became law in March 2022. Tourists have been warned to stay away from Wittenoom for years. More than 2,000 Wittenoom residents and former mine workers have died from mesothelioma. Asbestos is the primary cause of this malignant cancer.

Remnants of blue asbestos mining are still present in Wittenoom. The asbestos fibres are carried by wind and water, and can be disturbed by human activities such as walking or driving through the area. The State Government strongly advises against ALL travel through Wittenoom and the surrounding areas.

This is why videos like this, apps like Tiktok and such that aren't regulated to the same degree as Meta, need to keep existing to show truths
